Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Amy and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Dhampira!

Hello! Thank you for having me

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

Dhampira is an MMF menage romantasy about a half-human, half-vampire woman who’s been in hiding her whole life. She’s a dhampir, which means she can walk in the daylight, and the vampires will exploit her gift if they catch her. When she’s captured, she’s rescued by a knight who carries her to safety…or so she thinks. She ends up in the heart of the vampire kingdom, where she’s betrothed to the morally gray vampire prince. Now she has to navigate court politics while deciding if she can trust the knight and the prince. Both claim they can help her, but she’s not sure what they want from her. And she can’t quite figure out what they want from each other.

Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:

“Wise and beautiful. I should have known you’d devastate me.”

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

Dhampira was inspired by my love of epic 80s and 90s fantasy movies like Labyrinth and The Neverending Story. I envisioned this bold, colorful world full of magic and danger. I think readers will sense that because the world of Nocta is packed with just about every supernatural creature you can think of!

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

Corinthe notices Vander’s red hair and freckles right away. Justice for the ginger-haired hero! She’s slower to come around to Lorcan, who is cold and arrogant. But he has a soft side that peeks out. I hope readers will love him as much as I do.

Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?

I really love this scene where Vander shows how much of a consent king he is! Here’s a snippet:

“Not good enough,” Vander rasped, his breath fluttering over my lips. His cheeks were ruddy, his fangs white between his lips. “If you would be a leader of men, start right now. Queens don’t ask. They command. So let me hear it, sweetheart. Tell me what this pussy wants, and I’ll make it happen.”

Readers should read this book….

I’ve noticed a lot of early reviewers saying that Dhampira is their first MMF menage read. That makes me so happy! If you’re a romantasy reader new to menage or why-choose romance, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by Dhampira! The story is just as good as the spice, and you might discover a whole new genre to love.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

I’m working on the second book in my new Wolfseeker MM trilogy. Book one is called Wolfseeker, and it follows Caleb, a brand-new werewolf who has to come to terms with being turned against his will. Fortunately, he meets an older wolf, Jesse, who teaches him how to control his beast. But Jesse likes to be in control, too. Sparks definitely fly between those two!

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Excerpt from Dhampira:

I shoved out from Vander’s arms and stepped back. In the next breath, he caught my wrists.

“Don’t punch me again,” he said.

I twisted from his grip, irritation flaring when I realized he’d let me. “I wasn’t going to,” I said, “even though you deserve it.”

He studied me, his eyes narrowed as he appeared to consider his response. “You’re right,” he said finally. “But it couldn’t be helped.”

“You couldn’t help yourself? Someone made you scale the castle wall and jump over my balcony? Someone forced you to put your—” I clamped my mouth shut. “You touched me,” I said, hearing the hurt in my voice and hating it.

His jaw tensed. “I siphoned dead blood from you. Desire is a side effect.”

The Everless rushed back. “You siphoned dead blood from Lorcan. Did you make him feel desire?”

“I couldn’t say how Lorcan feels.”

“That’s a lie.”

Vander stepped toward me. “I’ve told you before, Princess, to use caution when you accuse me of deceit.”

I stood my ground, the ward’s blue glow staining my skirts. “Lorcan drained that acrobat tonight. He doesn’t know how many more gifts he can steal before he goes mad. Why didn’t you track him down and siphon him?”

“He knows what he’s doing. You’re vulnerable and inexperienced.”

And easily manipulated. Vander had laid a trap, and I’d walked right into it. The moon had soared higher in the sky since the time he entered my chamber. It poured through the balcony doors now, drawing my gaze to the prongs of the merman’s trident just visible above the balcony’s edge. When I looked at Vander , he watched me with bright, silver eyes.

Dangerous, just like the tiara. Just like the hairbrush. Why was I forever touching things that burned me?

“Do you know what I think?” I asked.

Slowly Vander shook his head.

“I think you lie like you breathe, Sir Vander. You want me to fight your war? Don’t put your hands on me again. You won’t win me over by pretending to want me.”

His lips parted. Then something like resolve gleamed in his eyes. In one of his lightning-fast moves, he seized my hand and pressed it to his groin.

My stomach dropped. His jacket had hidden his erection. But it was impossible to miss now. He was as big between his legs as he was everywhere else. And he was ready to rip through his pants.

Vander leaned forward, his bulk blocking the moonlight. But his eyes outshone it as his voice rasped in the tense space between us. “It’s hard for a man to lie about this.”

I swallowed.

Our eyes held. Vander’s dipped to my mouth before he released me. Then he gathered his crystals and strode to the balcony. Slipping through the doors, he vaulted the railing and dropped out of sight.

Book Info:

Corinthe has spent a lifetime longing for excitement outside her sleepy human village. As a dhampir born of a human mother and vampire father, her unique abilities make her desired by those who lurk across the Feyline—the boundary that keeps the magical realm in perpetual twilight where vampires hold dominion. To stay safe, she’s concealed her supernatural strength and taste for blood from her human neighbors, but when her yearning for excitement accidentally exposes her gifts, she is captured to sell to the highest bidder.

Terrified, she expects the worst. But rescue comes in the form of Vander, a handsome stranger who whisks her from the auction stage and across the Feyline . . . where he reveals himself to be a vampire knight of King Rasimir’s court. Notorious for his cruelty, the deranged king is determined to extend his rule to the farthest reaches, and Vander has been tasked with delivering Corinthe to him.

Now a pawn in the vampire court, Corinthe learns that Rasimir intends to marry her off to the arrogant Prince Lorcan and exploit her daywalking abilities for his own gain. But a wedding isn’t the only obstacle in her path to freedom. While Vander burns with dangerous charm, Lorcan watches her with hungry eyes. And both men claim they can help her—if she can trust them.
