Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Samantha Chase to HJ!
Hi Samantha and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, One More Moment!
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
Julian Grayson is taking a break
…from his cheating fiancée
…from his band
…from his life in the spotlight
Charlotte Clark is devoted to her work
…to save the world
…to help the homeless
…to get a broken man back on his feet
When Charlotte Clark offers to pay for Julian Grayson’s coffee, the world-famous drummer assumes she wants something from him. But Charlotte has no idea who he is, and Julian can’t resist keeping up the charade—being incognito is a novelty and a relief. He’ll have to tell her…eventually. But as Charlotte cheerfully undertakes to transform his life, Julian realizes there’s something about her that gives him what he hasn’t felt in years: hope.
Favorite Quote from One More Moment:
First, let me set this up. Julian and Charlotte don’t get off on the right foot. They meet in a coffee shop, he doesn’t have his wallet and she offers to buy his coffee. This completely offends him. Charlotte is completely baffled by his reaction and tells him to just pay it forward.
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
- Music is my muse and every book I write usually has at least one song that either inspired the entire story or at least one scene. For One More Moment, the song that really got things going (and I’m still shaking my head on this one) was “After the Lovin” by Englebert Humperdink! SERIOUSLY??? I cannot tell you how long that song was in my head while I was writing and it wasn’t until I hit a certain point in the book that it was replaced by other songs. Thank God!
- ONE MORE MOMENT was probably one of the fastest full-length books I’ve ever written. I started writing it at RWA last year in Orlando. I was sharing a condo with a friend and knew I wanted to start it and had a mini-plotting session with her that just exploded. Over the course of the week – and with all the conference stuff going on – I still managed to write a third of the book while I was there! Once I started, I couldn’t stop!
- Back to the music, once the whole Englebert thing was done, the music in my head was much better and much more relatable for me. Actually, it became a Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits collection! Which to me is MUCH better! So you’ll see in the dedication, that the book is partially dedicated to that music – which was really a soundtrack to some of the greatest times in my life.
If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?
I just thought this was a fun little scene with their bantering and where he’s finally starting to trust her.
“If paying for my coffee will put an end to this, you can just give me five bucks and go,” she said, but her lips twitched as she said it and that’s when Julian knew he had her.
“Uh-uh-uh. For all I know you’ll spend that money on something you don’t need. Face it, you’re going to have to let me buy it for you myself.” He took a sip of his coffee and felt victorious. When he lowered his cup, he grinned at her.
“Why are you like this?” she asked, but there was no heat behind her words.
“Like what? Friendly? Considerate?”
Her eyes went wide. “There are many words that come to mind when I think of you, Julian, and friendly and considerate aren’t two of them.”
“But you do think about me.”

I am probably the most old-school young 30s person out there. I still use CDs! No playlists or iPods for me! My most embarrassing CD is probably the 35th Anniversary CD of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Something about those old songs (like Bette Davis Eyes) in a high-pitched voice is just charming to me.
Teresa Williams
I don’t have an iPod but I have the 50 shades CD I play in my car.

there’s afew Disney songs on there. one is called ‘feminity’ (from an old Disney film).
the lyrics are a bit cringe worthy
“You must walk feminine, Talk feminine, Smile and beguile feminine, Utilize your femininity
That’s what every girl should know, if she wants to catch a beau
Dance feminine, Glance feminine, Act shy and sigh feminine, Compliment his masculinity
That’s what every girl should know, if she wants to catch a beau
Let him do the talking, Men adore good listeners, Laugh, but not too loudly (Haha)
If he should choose to tell a joke, Be radiant, but delicate, Memorize the rules of etiquette
Be demure, sweet and pure, Hide the real you”
just afew of the verses there. really educational
lol

TBH, it’s been years since I’ve had a playlist. I just listen to random things on the radio, mostly 80’s and 90’s, but also some modern stuff.
I can’t say I’d be embarrassed by a specific song, since even if they were, well, it’s my mood, lol. 😛
I’m actually more embarrassed by getting caught singing! LOL.
