Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Jaci and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, The Backup Bride Proposal!

Hello everyone! I’m so thrilled to be here!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

Mae Wallace is an expert at putting together amazing weddings. What she isn’t an expert at is acting. So when she’s called on to stand in for an actress who’s late for filming at Bellini Weddings, of course she agrees to stop in. She can always be counted on.
What she doesn’t count on is Kane August. Famous actor and all around very sexy man. Ruggedly handsome, and unexpectedly very nice guy. How’s she supposed to give him the cold shoulder when he treats her like she’s the best thing to ever happen to him?

Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:

“So what’s the real story? Some guy broke your heart?”

Damn him. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Well, whoever this jackass is, I’m sure he’s regretting letting someone like you slip away.”

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

My Boots & Bouquets series has thematic titles, such as The Best Man Plan, The Engagement Arrangement, and The Accidental Newlywed Game. So for this fourth book, I needed to ocme up with a similar theme. And I was stuck, so here are a few title ideas I came up with and ultimately discarded (for good reason):
The Reluctant Bride
The Stand In Idea
The Stand in Scheme
The Backup Bride Bargain
The Stand in Proposal
Though I do think several of these would make excellent titles—for an historical romance. But not for this book. I think The Backup Bride Proposal worked best and fit the storyline perfectly.

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

He likes her spunky nature and her smart mouth, and, of course, he thinks she’s beautiful. She also doesn’t back down from a challenge. And he’s a famous actor and women tend to fall over him but she doesn’t recognize him, which he finds refreshing.

Once she finds out he’s an actor, she has preconceived notions about him, figuring he’d be all about the limelight. But she finds out quickly he’s nothing like what she thought he’d be. He’s a normal guy who enjoys the outdoors and good barbecue and spending time alone with her.

Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?

There’s always something about my characters that makes my heart squeeze, and sometime laugh at the same time. Here’s a short snippet from one of those scenes:

“Thanks for taking me to this place. Food was great.”
“My company was even better,” she said.
He didn’t disagree. “Yeah, it’s nice having you around. You’re like . . . like . . .”
She was waiting for him to say something, he knew. The problem was, every time he looked at her, stared into the depths of her liquid brown eyes, he had a tendency to lose himself.
“I know,” she said, shooting a crooked grin at him. “Men are dumbstruck with awe over me.”
“Hell yes we are.” He stopped, then moved in closer, unable to help himself. He slid his hand around the side of her neck, nearly trembling at the feel of her skin against his palm.
He waited for her to pull away, to shove him away, actually. She didn’t. Instead, she tilted her head back and her glossy lips parted in invitation.
Unable to resist her delicious mouth, he put his lips to hers.

Readers should read this book….

If you like emotional, fun, hot romance, then this is the book for you.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

I’m currently working on several projects, but none are currently contracted so I can’t talk about them. Releasing in December is DESIGNS ON YOU, and if you read my book HOUSEBROKE it contains characters from that book.

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Book Info:

Bellini Weddings has agreed to allow a production company to film a movie at Red Moss Vineyards. It will be great PR for both the vineyard and the wine and wedding businesses. Mae Wallace, who works for the Bellini family, is thrilled with the possibility of new business. What she isn’t thrilled with is actor Kane August, who she finds crashing one of the weddings. He tells her it’s research for the movie, but she finds him overconfident and annoying.

Kane August is rarely surprised by anything—until he meets Mae Wallace. She’s sharp, just a bit on the snarky side, and the most refreshing woman he’s had the pleasure of meeting. She constantly challenges him, and he can’t remember having this much fun on a movie set. He takes every opportunity to spend time with her, peeling back layers until he gets to the heart of who this amazing person really is. And, unexpectedly, he realizes that he’s letting her in, too, something he hasn’t done with anyone before. However, they live very different lives and he’ll need to be careful around Mae, because she’s someone he could see a future with. But can she see the same thing?

When Kane takes her to his family’s ranch in Texas, Mae discovers a whole new side to him, learning about the heart and soul of a kind and gentle man. And as they grow closer, her guard goes up. Once burned, she has no intention of falling in love ever again, despite this very hot and sexy guy who’s trying his best to turn her world upside down and work his way through the steely wall she’s built. Kane is determined to show her he’s the one man she can trust with her heart. If only Mae will allow herself to fall.

I’m not much of a dancer but do like I Melt by Rascal Flatts and Heatwaves’ Always and Forever.

  2. Pam Conway

I love to dance. If I got married today it would be Today by Brad Paisley. I love Motown, 70’s, 80’s music to dance to. Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy is fun to dance to.

  3. Glenda M

My daughter found an instrumental version and of Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears as their processional and recessional song and it was perfect
