hot-for-the-scot-janice-mynardHot for the Scot by Janice Maynard: Off to Scotland with her best friends to explore the land, by themselves, in their fantasies from The Outlander series, Hayley dreams of finding love. Of course, it’s highly unlikely she’s going to run into and fall in love with a highlander, but at least she can appreciate the rolling green and history of Scotland on her own.
Except, run into a highlander she does…or at least, a hot, Scottish, retired football player who can’t seem to get enough of her. As tragedy strikes the town she’s staying in, and Angus’s hometown, the pair grow closer.
Always the staid and predicable teacher, Hayley is finally ready to live a little recklessly with Angus as she explores Scotland with him. But as her month abroad draws to a close, Hayley has to decide just how recklessly she wants to live, and whether or not she can just leave Angus behind.

“I think ye’re a charming, beautiful, fascinating woman. I’d like to get to know you better, and I might as well tell you right up front, I’m interested in taking you to bed. How’s that for plain speaking?”
My mouth dropped open and my throat closed up. I couldn’t have answered if I tried.
He grinned, white teeth flashing in a smile that made a woman want to strip down and take him right there on the kitchen table.

Hot for the Scot is the cutest idea. I’m a fan of Outlander, and Jamie (*swoon*) myself, so I totally get traveling to the beautiful Scotland to explore a piece of that magic. Not only does Maynard take the reader on a wonderful romance, but a wonderful journey through bits of Scotland.
But the romance, adorable and hot. Hayley is definitely staid, but cute about it. Angus, too, is sweet and all over her, which I always appreciate in my hero. It’s not the most exciting romance, but I liked them a lot together.
The biggest issue for me was probably how quickly they moved by the end. Being a short read, only slightly longer than a novella, there wasn’t enough time to develop the romance and characters as much as I might’ve liked. That said, given the space, it was sweetly done.
For any Outlander or Scottish hero fans I definitely recommend Hot for the Scot. It has a fun cast of characters and lovely setting that’ll get you in the mood for romance .

03.5S March 1, 2016 | Kensington | Kilted Heroes #1

It’s a dream come true for schoolteacher Hayley Smith. No homework to grade, no students to corral, no social media, Internet or cell phone…just a month amid the heather and rolling hills around Inverness. A brawny alpha male in a kilt is probably too much to ask for. But Hayley is in heaven ambling around Loch Ness, gazing and then…falling into the icy water, before being rescued by a strong, chivalrous local hero…

Retired soccer star Angus Munro, aka Angus the Angler, is a little insulted and a whole lot intrigued when Hayley doesn’t recognize him. How long has it been since anyone saw beyond his wealth and fame? And how long before the macho athlete and his modern-day American damsel in distress act on an attraction that could make even the misty Scottish moors sizzle with heat? Long enough, maybe, for both to figure out if this is an affair to remember…or the start of something everlasting…
