It’s in his Touch by Shelly Alexander: Sent to small town Red River by her law firm for an its-in-his-touch-by-shelly-aleandereasy case after her battle with breast cancer and discovering her fiancé with another woman, Angelique is more than happy to take it easy on this simple case. However, what began as simple only becomes more and more complicated when she meets neighbor and small town doctor, Blake, aka Dr. Tall, Dark, and Hotsome.

Blake is on the other end of her lawsuit, as a small business owner he’s set to lose all if her clients win. Now, as leader of the town businesses, it’s up to Blake to convince Angelique to forget the case. It becomes even more imperative to him as he falls deeper and deeper into their attraction.

He grabbed a paper towel to wipe his hands and turned abruptly, leaving her staring at his crotch.
She inhaled, slow and labored with a dash of dread.
Please, please, please. He didn’t just catch her staring at his ass and now his… Slowly, her gaze slid up his torso, over the gradient slopes of well-defined pecs with a perfectly formed hollow in between and finally to his squared jaw and sapphire eyes. One brow slightly raised, the corner of his mouth quirked upward into an almost-smile.

Blake and Angelique give a great romance as lovers on opposite sides of a lawsuit. As much as it is imperative for Angelique to win, since after her cancer and subsequent issues her career is all she believes in, Blake needs her to stop just as much to save his own dream and the livelihoods of so many others.

Despite the divide between them, the spark is too hot to ignore, and I absolutely loved being in the middle of it all. A slow build as they try to ignore first the attraction and then falling in love, I loved watching them struggle through the pitfalls.

With great suspense over how they could make it through to the other end with one another, I recommend Alexander’s second Red River romance for any reader wanting real conflicts and passionate sparks. It’s In His Touch

4SPublication: November 3, 2015 | Montlake Romance | Red River #2

There’s nothing that Angelique Barbetta can’t handle, no illness she can’t recover from, not one item on her outrageous bucket list that she can’t conquer—not even alligator wrestling! But after discovering her fiancé in a less-than-professional position with their perky assistant, even tough-as-nails Angelique needs a break. Her law firm sends her to Red River to work on a case that should be a piece of cake. Until she meets her sexy neighbor Blake Holloway…one of the proprietors who will lose everything if Angelique wins.

On opposite sides of a hostile legal battle—with a pair of Angelique’s silk undies ending up in Blake’s hands—undeniable chemistry swirls between them. As Blake shows Angelique just what Red River has to offer, her heart begins to melt for the people whose businesses make up the soul of the town. Can she put aside her feelings to win the case? Or will he convince her there’s much more at stake than winning—like love?

It is, I recommend it, and yes, the story can definitely be read as a standalone (although, like me, you might want to try out the other in the series!)
