A Heart Worth Mending by Amanda Canham: Dr. Kelli Maloney has hidden her pain. Buried deep in her heart, surrounded by the wall she’s placed there no one can breach it and if she keeps up the driving/working nonstop pace she’s at right now there won’t be 23119531any free time to think of anything or to feel. Because once she starts to feel the pain, the guilt, everything comes flashing back.

Dr. Travis Reed isn’t exactly undamaged himself, between losing his mother early and carrying the guilt for that, his divorce having his son move so far away, his life is no piece of cake. Then he goes to the beach and for the first time in a long time reacts to a woman and comes on to her only to learn she is his new coworker? Only him, right?

These two doctors are going to need some serious help to figure out their lives and the pills that they can prescribe aren’t going to cut it. Will they figure out the right prescriptions for their lives or will they end up giving into to their ghosts?

Amanda Canham is a new to me author but this is the second in her series about St. Mary’s hospital, although this novel can be read as a stand alone and while it does lead into what I’m thinking will be a book three this story does come to a conclusion at the end of the book. While both of the main characters are flawed I have to say Dr. Travis couldn’t have had more emotionally wrong with him. It was a little disconcerting to see a hero as flawed in his past as he was who had dealt with it in such a brush off manner. That was a little hard for me to buy into. However other than that the descriptions were fantastic and it was easy to see the flow of the story. There were a few twists but mainly this was a good straightforward sweet story of two very flawed doctors who learn to overcome and realize that even doctors are human.

Delve back into the exciting world of St Mary’s hospital in this new contemporary romance from Amanda Canham that introduces two sleep-medicine doctors, one sexy beach interlude and a workplace romance that’s sure to leave you feeling a whole lot better.

Crippled by guilt, Sleep Physician Doctor Kelli Maloney is only going through the motions of her life each day. A startling encounter with a sexy stranger jolts her back into the present, but brings all the pain she’s been trying to forget to the fore.

Doctor Travis Reed is struggling to maintain an interstate relationship with his son when he meets Kelli, a woman so beautiful, but so wounded. He knows he can help, if only she would let him in.

As doctors, they spend their days caring for others, but it seems impossible that they will ever get past their individual pain and start caring for themselves. A chance at love and happiness is right in front of them, if only they can both take the chance to heal each other’s hearts.
