A Lie for a Lie by Helena Hunting: Rook, aka RJ, is one of the best players in the NHL and a team captain. He loves his job, teammates, and family, but he would like more. He’s sexy, charming, wealthy, and quite the target for the puck bunnies. He used to be quite the player, but he’s learned his lesson and just wants someone to want him for him.

Lainey is a genius and loves to learn. She’s earned a few graduate degrees and she is a fountain of knowledge. She’s prone to anxiety, rambling when nervous, and typically feels awkward. Growing up with a large family and older brothers, she’s been somewhat sheltered and she’s determined to be independent and live her own life.

Rook looks forward to escaping the media and attention from leading a successful hockey team each summer. It’s a chance to get away, rest, relax, recharge, and hang out with his brother. Except one summer it’s just him in Alaska with the adorably sexy Lainey. Rook is surprised when Lainey falls into his lap, but pleasantly so when they are going to the same place.

“I’m so sorry I fell on you.”
I flash her a grin and a wink. “That was the most exciting part of this trip so far, so don’t worry about it.”
“I didn’t mean to kiss you. I mean your cheek.” Hers grow redder. “Oh my God, Lainey, just shut up and leave the poor man alone,” she mutters and ducks her head.

Both are surprised when they run into each other by chance a year later. Neither have forgotten their memorable summer together or how it felt like so much more than a fling. The attraction is still there and Rook still soothes her anxiety. Lainey has changed, but Rook is pretty persistent and he wants another chance. He pushes her outside her comfort zone and she brings out another side to him that is protective, generous, patient, and sweet.

“Hey. I was just thinking about you.” He rubs his lips, the hint of a smile playing on them.
“You were thinking about me while you’re shirtless?” Oh God. I didn’t just ask that.
He full-on grins. His smile is just so pretty. He has nice teeth. Perfect teeth, actually. “To be fair, I’ve thought about a lot of things while shirtless, but one of those things happened to be you.”

A Lie for a Lie is funny, sexy, and romantic. Helena Hunting built on the Pucked world in this new series that’s off to a great start. Ms. Hunting developed an entertaining cast of characters with banter, humor, conflict, and heat. Fans of Sawyer Bennett, Katy Evans, and Jaci Burton will love A Lie for a Lie.

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series comes a romantic comedy about instant attraction, second chances, and not-so-little white lies.

Sometimes I need an escape from the demands, the puck bunnies, and the notoriety that come with being an NHL team captain. I just want to be a normal guy for a few weeks. So when I leave Chicago for some peace and quiet, the last thing I expect is for a gorgeous woman to literally fall into my lap on a flight to Alaska. Even better, she has absolutely no idea who I am.

Lainey is the perfect escape from my life. My plan for seclusion becomes a monthlong sex fest punctuated with domestic bliss. But it ends just as abruptly as it began. When I’m called away on a family emergency, I realize too late that I have no way to contact Lainey.

A year later, a chance encounter throws Lainey and me together again. But I still have a lie hanging over my head, and Lainey’s keeping secrets of her own. With more than lust at stake, the truth may be our game changer.
