A Lighthouse Christmas by Jenny Hale was another heartwarming holiday book by Jenny Hale that I really enjoyed. It was an easy-to-read story with second chances, a mystery, sweet romance, and family dilemma. The author’s descriptions in the book brought it to life and I was captivated from the beginning. The characters were delightful with real-life relatable issues. It was a clean, sweet romance that was beautifully written and told from Mia’s viewpoint.

Mia Carter (Broadhurst) was director of event planning and PR at Broadhurst Creative, her husband’s marketing and media company. With the death of her Grandma Ruth and her marriage with Milo failing, her life had become uncertain. She returned to her coastal hometown of Bakers Ridge to help her mother with the sale of Grandma Ruth’s lighthouse home in Winstead Cape. Mia always planned the Broadhurst’s Christmas annual event but this year with her grandmother’s death, upcoming divorce, and sale of the family’s lighthouse she had forgotten to confirm the venue. Now with only weeks to go, she had nowhere to have the party or a charity for them to host. With the help of Will Thacker, the real estate agent who was helping them sell the lighthouse, Mia was able to get the lighthouse ready for sale and host the annual Christmas event. He had lost his wife a year before and had returned to Bakers Ridge to help his sister Kate with The Corner Bakery, the family business, and her son. As they were sorting and packing Grandma Ruth’s belongings, Mia and her family found some mysterious items that lead them to search for an unknown woman. Will Mia and her family be able to save their beloved lighthouse? You must read the book to find out.

I really enjoyed reading this book and meeting all the Carter women. Mia was used to being the strong one and the leader in her family. She felt like she was failing her mom and sister by not being able to save the lighthouse. She had always had a plan so her pending divorce and uncertain career were weighing her down. She had lost herself over the years and now was faced with rediscovering who she was. The story was a sweet romance, but I was bothered a little by the fact that Will had not even been widowed for a year and Mia’s divorce was still pending. Their relationship seemed a little rushed but other than that I loved the book.

As she steps into it, childhood memories rush back to her. She can almost hear them playing tag on the steps… But her life is back in New York, dedicated to a busy PR firm, and she has no choice but to sell.

With the snow falling, turning the grounds into a winter wonderland, Mia works with real estate agent Will Thacker. As they restore the historical building, she tries not notice how handsome he is. After all, she’s only home for Christmas… And Will’s deep blue eyes, as stormy as the Atlantic Ocean, tells her he has his own heartbreak to contend with.

Warmed by a crackling fire, Mia packs up Grandma Ruth’s belongings with the help of her mother and sister. But waiting for them is a black-and-white photograph with a faded inscription.
