A Walk on the Wild Side of Wicked by Mechele Armstrong: Kari, a young woman from a small town in Virginia, grew up in a hostile household. Her bully of a father made her life miserable, while her mother sat back and said nothing. Kari was never physically abused thank goodness, but the mental abuse was constant and consistent. Kari was always the good girl, never stepping outside of the box for fear of emotional retribution. However, much to wickedher father’s objection, she went to college, got her own place and is now a wonderful librarian. She decides to explore her “wickedness” by taking a trip to Paris to have a fling and enjoy life for the very first time.

Maynard, a successful businessman from Northern Virginia, is in Paris on business when he meets Kari. They immediately hit it off and have mind-blowing sex. Maynard, a dominant, believes Kari can be trained to be a his submissive. Maynard is unique in that he does not incorporate punishment into his lifestyle. He finds Kari’s innocence to be a tremendous turn on and he wants their fling to evolve into more.

In some ways, Maynard’s dominance reminds Kari of her father, which prevents her from truly being in a loving relationship with Maynard. However, she does feel comfortable giving him complete control in the bedroom and much to her delight, she is constantly yearning for more.

This is a fast-paced erotic novella with an interesting storyline. While the sex scenes are well-written and hot, I actually preferred reading about Kari and her dysfunctional family. Kari’s epiphany was described well and heartfelt. I truly liked the way Ms. Armstrong presented Maynard, with warmth, caring and love. I found his dominant side to be beyond reproach, which is a nice diversion from the typical dominants described in today’s books.

Kari takes a walk on the wild side of wicked and has a fling with a stranger in Paris. It’s the most impetuous thing she’s ever done. Only now Maynard has ideas of making the fling permanent–which doesn’t fit into her desire to be a wicked woman.

Experiments in phone sex, body paints and restraints all show her a side of herself that she never knew she had. But she refuses to lose herself in a man, refuses to let him take over her life just because she likes being dominated in the bedroom.

Maynard aims to show her that to know herself and to surrender to desire is the only way to truly experience what it means to be wild and wicked.
