About a Dog by Jenn McKinlay: The last thing Mac wants to do is return to her hometown and face the residents of the small community, especially for a wedding. While she’s thrilled that one of her best friends has found a great guy, she’s not ready to face everyone again after they last saw her when she was stood up at the altar. But more than that, she’s really not ready to face Gavin, the bride’s younger brother, and how she ran before they could experience the awkward morning after.

Mac has a plan to follow the bride’s schedule and reconnect with their group of friends, while avoiding Gavin as much as she can. As determined as Mac is to avoid Gavin and their past, he is just as determined to bring that flame back to life. Gavin may be younger, but he’s now a sexy, charming, confident veterinarian who has always been in love with Mac. He wants to make his play by making the most of the next two weeks in the run up to the wedding.

“Listen,” he said as he pulled her away from the table and back into the shadows against the wall. “I didn’t mean to freak you out earlier.”
“You didn’t-” she protested but he interrupted.
“Yeah, that’s why you ran like a tsunami was coming to get you,” he said.

Seeing the more mature version of Gavin brings back the memories of their one night together that Mac has tried to bury. Fighting their overwhelming attraction almost becomes a full-time job since they are constantly thrown together for the wedding. It doesn’t help when Mac unexpectedly rescues an adorable puppy who would need Gavin’s expert care and attention. Their attraction combined with this new version of Gavin is certainly more than she can resist.

“You want to know what’s in my purse?”
“Just want to make sure you’re not smuggling a dead body out of town,” he teased.
“I don’t know. That’s kind of personal, don’t you think?”
“More personal than the other time we’ve spent together?” he asked.

About a Dog is a funny, sweet, sexy story I didn’t want to put down. Jenn McKinlay delivered a great start to a new series with anticipation, banter, romance, and strong friendships. Ms. McKinlay created a delightful cast of colorful characters who will draw you in and have you counting the months for the next book in the series. Fans of Kimberly Lang, LuAnn McLane, Beth Ciotta, and Kendra Leigh Castle will enjoy About a Dog.
