Accidentally Perfect is the first book in the Hideaway Harbor series by Marissa Clarke. This book had a lot of my favorites; small-town feel-goods, grumpy hero vs. bossy heroine, and city girl goes to small-town adventures. It was well written, fast-paced, and attention-grabbing. The characters were charming and very easy to connect with.

Workaholic Lillian Mahoney was the owner and creator of Living Sharpe, a successful lifestyle company. When a live show in New York goes bad with Niles Sharpe, Lillian’s sister, Erin, encourages her to take some time off and offers her cottage in Blink. Lillian decides some downtime and a change of scenery would be good for her and hopes it will give her some ideas for new shows. She pictures Blink as a cute coastal town full of tourists and artist shops but quickly realizes she is out of her depth when she reaches small-town Blink. After a few days, the grumpy Caleb and the town grow on Lillian, and she wants to help save the dying small-town. When her business in New York needs her, she is torn between it and her yearning to live in Blink with Caleb.

Caleb Wright has lived in Blink his entire life and stays busy raising his teenage daughter by himself and restoring vintage woodwork for Wright Boat Works, the family business. He was instantly suspicious when newcomer Lillian offers to help Roger McGuffy, the richest man in Blink, organize his home. Once his suspensions are laid to rest, he comes to admire Lillian but he had already been burnt by love. He knows Lillian will be leaving Blink like everyone else and Blink is where his heart is.

This was a heartwarming story and I loved watching Lillian realize she could slow down, enjoy life, and still be successful. Blink offered things she didn’t think she needed such as friendship and a loving community however she discovered she wanted those things. Lillian and Caleb’s relationship was slow-burning, and it was great watching it grow. I enjoyed meeting all the charming residents of small-town Blink, Maine. Cassidy and Amanda were amazing and the friendship between the three of them grew swiftly. I enjoyed the book and recommend it if you love small-town romance. I look forward to the next book in the series and seeing all the residents of small-town Blink again.

Workaholic Lillian Mahoney has given everything to her job. The hugely popular lifestyle show she helped create monopolizes her time, energy, creativity, and anything remotely resembling a life. But all it takes is the show’s womanizing, egomaniac star throwing a massive hissy on live TV to utterly implode Lillian’s career in a New York minute.

Now Lillian’s hiding out in the gorgeous and completely unknown seaside village of Blink, Maine. Out of gas. A stolen wallet. A broken heel. And worse, she’s somehow managed to completely piss off the town’s resident hunk, Caleb Wright. She’ll show that hot, grumpy single father exactly what she’s made of.

But Blink isn’t quite what Lillian expects—and neither is Caleb…or his feisty teen daughter she can’t help but love. And while her entire life and career are in shreds, Lillian might just discover what happens when she gives her bad first impression a second chance…
