In All Night Long (Man of the Month #9) by J. Kenner, Years might have passed by since Easton Wallace spent one amazing, steamy night with Selma Herrington but he can recall every single scintillating moment. These days he’s no longer a college student looking for a good time with a wild and crazy girl. He’s a successful lawyer with his eyes on soon becoming a judge. Which means that Easton has to keep his nose clean, work hard, schmooze harder, and be seen with the right people. Sadly for him, that does not include Selma, who has suddenly walked into his life again. He can’t say he’s not tempted to indulge. But he knows that one taste will just make him crave more of his free-thinking whiskey maker. With his career on the fast track, Easton will have to figure out if he might find a way to balance having Selma in his life–and if her brand of excitement is something he’s been needing all along.

“I want to keep going. I want you in my bed. I want you in my life. Does that scare you?”
She licked her lips, then nodded.
“I’m sorry about that. But I don’t think you’re the kind of woman who runs from scary things.”
A laugh bubbled out of her. “Oh, I think I do. Scary emotional things, anyway.”

Distilling whiskey might not have been the future Selma saw for herself but she has to admit she’s had a ball in Austin, growing her business and getting to meet the locals. Especially her friends at The Fix on Sixth. But it’s time for a change of pace. So when Selma needs legal advice on how to go about selling her distillery, everyone points her towards one man: Easton Wallace. As much fun as they had years ago, she’s leery of going to him with her business needs. She wouldn’t mind a repeat of their delicious night together, but Selma doesn’t have it in her to get seriously involved. With anyone. Something she’ll bet Easton would want. But no matter how hard she tries, she just can’t seem to stay away from the handsome, smooth-talking lawyer. If she knew they could keep things casual, it wouldn’t worry her. Selma has a feeling, though, that Easton is the one man who just might have the ability to make her rethink her carefree ways.

‘The Easton who stood before her now was a man with all sorts of dark edges. The kind who could take a girl to dark places, then fill them with light.
God, how she wanted that.’

A carefree, successful businesswoman. A buttoned-up lawyer on his way to becoming a powerful judge. Two people who shouldn’t match up in any way, shape or form. But J. Kenner made it work in the sexiest, most pleasing of ways in All Night Long.

‘A wild child like Selma was not the woman a judicial candidate needed to have in his bed. Or on his arm.’

J. Kenner keeps on cranking out the books in her smoking hot Man of the Month series. And somehow the couples are remaining relevant and the tropes are still wildly entertaining. In this case Easton and Selma’s romance was kind of a combination of two tropes: a one-night stand (several years ago) and opposites attract. Both worked exceedingly well. There was some major heat between these two strong-willed individuals and it was oh-so much fun watching them dance around each other. I especially loved their dialogue–which Kenner excels at anyway. But with Easton being a lawyer with an alpha side Selma seemed to bring out in full force, and with Selma’s outrageous and seriously sexy flirting, my kindle was almost overheating. (lol)

It took several books, but I was so happy we finally got to really “meet” Easton here. I was hoping he wouldn’t be too arrogant or cold, and of course I should have know that Kenner would make sure he was multidimensional and worthy of hero status. Mr. September was kind, ridiculously hot, trustworthy, quick-witted, and did I mention hot? (And Lordy, that book cover! *fans face*) But Selma was equally as dynamic as Easton was. I loved that she knew her own heart, was unashamed of her needs and wants, and was more than willing to chase down her man. They were a fiery couple both in and out of the bedroom. Their differences in personality and how they acted in public was what ultimately created the tension between Easton and Selma, but I do like how Kenner used that teach them both lessons about themselves and what they wanted out of life.

The wealth of genuine emotions and fantastic chemistry between her characters is what draws me time and again to Kenner’s wonderful novels. It doesn’t hurt that the romances have a seductive erotic edge that makes them thrilling and captivating. Definitely recommended.

I wear designer suits on my body by day and gorgeous women on my arm at night. Some might call me arrogant, with my chiseled jaw and my dark blue eyes. Add in my money and I can get any woman I want.

Now, I want her.

The night I spent with Selma has lived in my most erotic dreams. And ever since she swept back into my life, with her flashing eyes and delicious body, I want nothing more than to make sultry new memories.

But with an election coming up, and an office I want to fill, it isn’t the right time to get involved with a free-spirited girl with a wild streak. A girl who doesn’t abide by the rules. A girl who could get me noticed in all the wrong ways.

A girl who makes me crazy … in all the right ones.

Now I’m going to have to decide: Walk the straight and narrow? Or have the hottest, wildest affair of my life with the sexiest woman I’ve ever known?

Meet Mr. September –
He’s got the moves to make a woman blush.

This is such a wonderful series, Teresa! Every story is just as good as the last and the tropes have been so much fun to figure out. 🙂
