Almost Strangers by Claudia Y. Burgoa: Everyone always says that your first love will always be one to remember but they never really tell you that it will also be the hardest to get over. For Pria and Jacob it all started between the aisle of a bookstore. There was just something about the tall lanky, blue eyed boy that Pria could not resist and really who could blame her when Jacob made sure to woo her at every turn. But all things that hurt bight eventually burn out, which is exactly what happens when Pria is forced to move away… fast forward a few years and Pria is desperate for a lifeline while Jacob is taking the world by storm as a new rockstar sensation… could fate bring these two young loves back together for a second chance at love?

Oh wow, this book really hit me harder than I had expected! Firstly I am not a huge fan of cliffhangers and that is exactly how Burgoa leaves us at the end of this book, but never fear the second part to this duet is already available! Almost Strangers is packed with intense chemistry of a young couple that is totally consumed by each other. This book was heartbreakingly beautiful and showcased all the things that I love about Burgoa’s work!

I really liked both main characters and that this was just the start of their story together, mind you these two really did have a bumpy journey. I just loved Pria, she was such a strong character, having been pushed aside for most of her life in favour of her ill sister getting the spotlight. I really liked that she made Jacob work to win her over, even though her attraction was very strong she still made him work for her heart. As for our hero Jacob, well how could you not like this guy, not only was her charming and funny but he really put in the effort to woo Pria.

I really enjoyed getting to see them trying to find their way and the passion and tenderness to their relationship. In a way they both broke each other when things ended. However things are bound to only get messier before they get better now that these two are back in each others lives… I can not wait to read the conclusion of Pria and Jacobs’s story in Stranger In Love.

I found it (him) at the bookstore.
Love.
He was six foot four, lanky, blue-eyed.
Jacob Decker was goofy, handsome, and cheesy.
There’s no better way to describe him.
But what can I expect of an eighteen-year-old boy who’s lived under a rock all his life?

I’ll let you into a little secret.
I had no idea what to expect.
We were each other’s first everything.
But the fantasy lasted only a semester.

Soon I had to move away.
A few years later, he was a rockstar, and I was…
Grasping for a lifeline.
The problem with first loves is that they never leave you.
But they never come back, do they?

Thanks so much for the review and the heads up about the cliffhanger! I hope Ms Burgoa makes it crystal clear that this ends with one.
