Because of Her by Jewel E. Ann: Frankie can’t help but feel like her entire world has been turned upside down, not only is she unemployed but she is also reeling from the loss of another family member. The last thing she could have ever expected when she arrived in Boone to tie up her family’s home was to cross paths with the mysterious but insanely attractive stranger living in her new neighbours garage. Jackson has one mission and that definitely does not involve getting distracted by his new neighbour but when Frankie keeps popping up in his life Jack has no choice but to pay attention. There is just something so appealing about Jackson even if he gives of some low key dangerous vibes, so what happens when she finally finds a guy that makes her feel seen but her need to avenge her fallen family comes in the way?

“Letting go is hard. And holding on is an illusion”

The book was everything I did not know that I was looking for in a book! There was drama, romance, suspense, intense emotions and some incredible chemistry. I have for sometime now been a fan of Jewel’s books but Because of Her just hit different. There was something so much more intense about this book that had me hooked right from the very first chapter, at first it reads as a book of sadness, grief and dealing with loss but once Frankie and Jackson collide this book transforms into a beautiful and heart warming story of love and healing.

I just loved these two main characters, they could not have been more perfect for each other, while both of them are on their own roads to dealing with past demons they find a way to help each other heal. Frankie was a brilliant leading lady, she has had to deal with losing her twin brother, her sister-in-law and her nephew all by suicide but she show great courage and determination in wanting to get to the bottom of their strange and untimely deaths. I really liked the fact that she was not only smart and determined but she strong willed even when things got a bit difficult. As for our hero Jackson, well he was on a mission to not only ensure the safety of his family but to once and for all slay his remaining demons. There was something very alluring about Jackson, even though he came across as a bit dark and mysterious at first. I really enjoyed getting to see his story unfold and really getting to see him finding happiness with Frankie.

“If you carry me to the finish line, I’ll carry you for the rest of our lives.”

The chemistry between Frankie and Jackson was something else, these two were so different but they just clicked. I’m a sucker for the sunshine meets grump trope and that was Frankie and Jackson down to a tee. I loved getting to see them help break down each others walls and help each other open a new chapter in life. More than anything I loved all of the antics that they got up to together. As for Eloise, the neighbour, well she was just gold. I loved that she was a friend to both Jack and Frankie but that she also brought a lightness to the book.

Because of Her is set to be a standalone novel and it most definitely can be read as one but I think it would be beneficial to read the entire Jack and Jill series to fully appreciate Jackson’s story coming full circle. One thing I can definitely tell you is that this book is a must read!

“If sin weren’t pretty, it wouldn’t be so tempting.”

I was an accomplished music professor.
Happily single.
Perfectly content.

Now, I’m unemployed.
Pining for a dark, brooding guy named Jack who lives in a garage with a piano.
And I’m plotting to seduce a married man because his daughter is responsible for my nephew committing suicide.

I don’t know why teenage girls are so mean.
I don’t know why rich men cheat on their wives.
And I don’t know why Jack has serial killer vibes, even though he leaves me speechless every time he speaks.

All I know for sure is that I feel safe in a stranger’s arms and understood by someone I don’t understand.

“You should be a little scared of everyone because humans are unpredictable.”

How far will I go for revenge? More than that …
How far will he go to save me?
