Betting the Billionaire by Avery Flynn: Keisha Jacobs, interior designer, furniture store manager and devoted daughter, dreads answering the business phone these days. That is because every time it rings, billionaire Gabe Campos is on line offering to purchase her family’s furniture store. He calls about two to three times a week and Keisha’s answer is always the same, NO!

billionaireJacob’s Fine Furnishings is a family business that Keisha’s father began years ago from the inside of his parents’ barn. The store was financially sound for years, but most recently has been unable to stay in the black. The store’s downhill spiral started after Keisha’s father had a stroke. Keisha put her life on hold in order to help her mother take care of him, and look after the store.

Due to second guessing some facts, Gabe believes that Keisha’s father contributed greatly to death of his biological father. He is out for revenge and the demise of Jacob’s Fine Furnishings is the first item on his list. However, speaking with Keisha on a semi-regular basis for a few months has completely unnerved him. They share a phone attraction that cannot be denied. When Gabe comes to town, the attraction evolves into a steamy night of passion.

Leave it to Keisha’s wise old dad to sort out Gabe’s misinformation and set him straight. As a result, the store is back in the black and Keisha’s future is bright with a new job in interior design and the man that she loves by her side.

This was just an okay read for me. I did not care for the plot, I found it to be ineffective and one-dimensional. Although the sex scene was a true scorcher, the build-up to the actual act was almost non-existent. On a positive note, I loved Keisha’s devotion to her family, even when it meant giving up on her dreams. Overall, Ms. Flynn has a smooth writing style, the novella was easy to read and the story moved along at a nice pace.

If that man calls her one more time… So what if Gabe Campos is a model-dating billionaire who gets Keisha Jacobs hotter than a Ferrari’s engine on the straightaway? He keeps pushing her to sell her family’s furniture business, but she’ll never give in—not unless she wants to give her father a second heart attack.

All Gabe should be thinking about is how he’ll finally get revenge on the man who killed his father. But when he meets the man’s daughter, Keisha, instead of focusing on destroying Jacobs Fine Furnishings, he can’t get her warm-whisky voice out of his mind.

Forced by a snow storm to spend the night together, their passion ignites. The next day, however, it’s back to business. The only way Keisha can save her family is to win a bet with the billionaire. But neither realized their hearts are part of the bargain…
