Between You and Me by Jennifer Gracen: Tess has a great life. She has a career that she loves with wonderful, but sometimes overprotective, brothers. She may have been born into wealth and status, but she’s down to earth, friendly, caring, and generous. After seeing her brothers so happy and in love, Tess decides that it’s time to be proactive and go after the one thing she wants: a baby.

Logan is good with his life. He’s worked hard to rebuild a life for himself after hitting rock bottom. He’s happy enough managing homes for the wealthy while taking care of his mom. He’s a really good son and he does what he can to make his mom comfortable while going through her cancer treatments. After everything he has lost, he refuses to be vulnerable again by falling in love.

Tess escapes to Aspen so she can do her research and prepare for getting pregnant via a fertility clinic without the watchful eyes of her family. She’s excited by the prospect of finally having a baby. Tess and Logan have always gotten along since she bought the house with a few of her brothers, but seeing each other more regularly changes things.

He smiled and shook his head in wonder. “You don’t hold back, do you?”
“Not often, no.”
“Upfront city girl.”
“That’s right, lumberjack.”

They have pretty much always been attracted to each other, but they finally have a chance to develop a friendship and get to know other really well. Logan becomes a great friend as he fully supports her plans to become a mom. And then fully supporting her takes on a new meaning when Logan agrees to be her sperm donor and lover. They have great chemistry and banter as their feelings quickly grow…until both get in deeper than expected.

“I mean,” she continued, “if we’re going to be a fake couple…we’ll need to spend a little time together. And the more we get to know each other, the more real it’s going to seem, right?”
“Right.”
