bodyguard-pursuitBodyguard Pursuit by Joanne Wadsworth: Joanne Wadsworth throws us right into the aftermath of Saria and her twin sister’s year of living in hidden protection from a killer bent on finding them. Saria had been living with her bodyguard Ben, who she has become close to and my impression is that the Saria and Ben have developed a co-dependent relationship. Although their relationship was never sexually intimate, they became very attached to each other. Saria doesn’t feel safe or happy without Ben, and Ben can’t stop thinking about or worrying about Saria. They are having trouble functioning apart. Ben tries to keep his distance from Saria, and from every other woman, because of something he hides that is not at all his fault. When they meet again in anticipation of Saria’s sister’s wedding, the sparks fly…and Saria will take what she can get from Ben. Will it be enough for either of them though?

The past still haunts them both, and it’s not done with them yet…

Bodyguard Pursuit by Joanne Wadsworth is the second book in the Bodyguards series, and I would not recommend reading Bodyguard Pursuit as a stand alone. I felt like I’d just dove into the middle of a story, and it took a while for the background to come together. This made it a little difficult to feel wholly invested in Bodyguard Pursuit. I liked the general plot…two people trying to move on from their past while fighting to stay safe. Saria is quite a young heroine. Ben is a bit older but has missed out on a lot of experiences due to his self imposed non-relationship issues. They find strength in each other, and the caring they feel for each other is obvious in Bodyguard Pursuit. I didn’t feel a really strong connection to either of them, but their journey was interesting.

Bodyguard Pursuit is well paced and I think if you’ve read the first book in this series you will likely enjoy Bodyguard Pursuit.
