REVIEW: Burning for You by Michele Dunaway

Burning for You by Michele Dunaway: Taylor Krebs, 26, is the photographer for the Sexy Public Servants of St. burning-for-you-picLouis calendar. Joe, Marino, 34, is a firefighter and Mr. September and is compared to Joe Manganiello.

Taylor works at a bar/restaurant to pay the bills and one night the firefighters come to help out for charity and she is teamed up with Joe. Joe tells Taylor he would like her help in photographing burn victims for The Burns Recovered Support Group book he is putting together. His sister Susie was burned in a grass fire as a child. Taylor begins spending time with the Marino family and she and Joe grow closer. However, Joe has secrets. He started the fire that burned his sister and has scars on his legs from saving her. Susie tells Taylor about the burns on Joe. He is very sensitive about them, but she eases his concerns. Her professor tells her Joe needs to be her final project, but she doesn’t tell Joe. She takes photos of him without telling him their real purpose. The two start dating. When Joe finds out her stalker ex is at the art show for her school he rushes over, and learns the truth. He feels betrayed and their relationship is up in the air.

There are very sweet moments in Burning for You. It deals with a painful subject but with bravery. There is a great message of perseverance. Taylor and Joe have both made mistakes but forgiveness is important. I was rooting for them as a couple. Joe’s family was great and I would be interested in reading more about them. The ending is very sweet. I haven’t read Michele Dunaway before but I really enjoyed this.

I recommend Burning for You to those who like books about overcoming obstacles, pain, and sadness and finding love and happiness.

I love books with characters that have scars. I will have to pick this book up.

Thanks for the review, Allison. I like characters that are emotionally and/or physically wounded, so this sounds like a book for me!
