Catching Heat by Alison Packard: Angie DeMarco hasn’t had an easy time of it lately, she’s no longer engaged and now no longer employed. The only thing she has going for her is her grandmother Sophia’s saying that keep popping into her head. Her family relationships have tainted her from her choice of careers to her choice in men. When is she going to make her own decisions and rely on herself?
J.T. Sawyer comes from a big loving family and coming off of winning the World Series? What more can any guy ask for? Other than Angie, the woman he hasn’t been able to get off of his mind since he first met her two years ago. Then one night everything changes and the world starts to spin on it’s axis.
What is going to happen with J.T. and Angie? Can they overcome Angie’s ingrained fears? Will either of them be able to confront their feelings? When everything changes how will these two relative strangers come together? Is this only temporary or have they “caught the heat”?
This story captured me from the beginning. Including sports and a strong woman along with two very different households I knew this would be a story to keep my attention and I wasn’t wrong. Ms. Packard’s focus on Angie’s past and the hurts and consequences really allow the reader to see how things from the past really do affect the present and even the future.
While I don’t want to give anything away there is certainly a fantastic HEA here and while it’s painful at times (yes I wanted to hit JT several times) it also shows great love that is real. Wonderful read.

Life has taught Angie DeMarco that all baseball players are womanizers, and her incredible one-night stand with sexy San Francisco Blaze back-up catcher J.T. Sawyer seemed to prove it. Determined not to give in to their sizzling chemistry a second time, she’s kept her distance ever since, focusing on her accounting job with the team. But now she’s laid off…and pregnant.
J.T. was hurt by Angie’s rejection, but with one more year with the Blaze, he has no time for love. He needs to spend the off season training hard so he can negotiate a better contract with a new team at the end of the year. But when Angie shows up on his doorstep, he‘s overwhelmed by wanting to not just do right by her but pursue a relationship with her. Hoping for a second chance, he proposes.
Angie agrees to marry J.T. on one condition: the marriage will be purely a business arrangement. But as Angie spends time with him and his family, and J.T. neglects his training to spend time with her, what begins as a union in name only slowly grows into something more—something that looks a whole lot like love and friendship.

There have been a lot of good sports based romances lately. This sounds like one I need to check out.
