Cuffed by K. Bromberg is an emotional read about trust and getting over the past, so you can move on to a brighter future that is waiting for you. If only you had the strength to reach out grab it.
Emerson is back in town after years away and seeing Grant again, brings back all kinds of feelings. Grant has a hero complex and Emerson is a control freak. But they also have an unforgettable friendship that is hard to forget. And…for Emerson, that can be good and bad. When Emerson makes the first move and tries to control things, Grant puts her in her place, so to speak. He lets her know that he will be the one controlling all the moves and she better buckle up for the ride.
What was supposed to be a one-time encounter, turns into a friend with benefits relationship. They can’t get enough of each other and it doesn’t take long before their feelings grow into more than friendship. Grant almost loses Emerson, but in order for to get past her fears and trust, Grant has to do the same.
A few triggers to look out for. Grant’s a cop, so obviously, his job isn’t full of rainbows. He has a domestic violence case going on. And Emerson went through sexual abuse when she was eight from her dad. Being around Grant brings up all those forgotten and unwanted memories and in order to cope with her past, she cuts herself. So, beware.
So, Emerson is a hard heroine to love. She holds a grudge really well. Grant saved her twenty years ago, by breaking his promise to her, but she can’t let it go. I’m not quite sure what she expected. Did she want to continue to keep getting sexual abused? She was a young kid and all, but Grant SAVED her. There is no reason for all the constant anger towards him. But that’s how Emerson deals with it, and maybe that’s how other survivors learn to get on with their life. I’ve never been abused, so I’m not going to pretend I know how I would deal with her situation. Either way, it’s an extremely tough situation to go through.
I loved Grant. I thought he was a wonderful hero and his family, was pretty great too. I didn’t like Emerson’s best-friend. It seemed like she was more loyal to Grant, than to Emerson. Overall, Cuffed is a well-written, emotional tale that packs quite a punch. The hero, despite his faults, and he does have some, is patient, protective, and hard to forget. If you have no issues with the triggers, this is a good read to add your bookshelf.

“I hate you. I never want to see you again.”
Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville—at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade, ring in my ears every time a townsperson brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again.
Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons—sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer. But Grant is off limits because he knows too much about my past.
But I’m drawn to him. That damn uniform of his doesn’t hurt either. It’ll be my downfall. I know it.
What’s one night of sex going to hurt . . . right?

I’ve always loved Emmy Reeves.
That’s why I’m shocked to see her all these years later. The shy girl I once knew is all grown up.
Adventurous and full of life, she owns my heart now, just as much as she did back then. Convincing her of that is a whole different story.
I’ll give her the one night she asks for—like that’s a hardship—but when it comes to letting her walk away after, she has another thing coming. There’s no way in hell I’m letting her go this time without a fight.
