REVIEW: Date on the Run by Jill Monroe

Date on the Run by Jill Monroe is a fast-paced novella that I inhaled in about an hour. Considering this is a short story, it is heavy on character definition, plot development and sexual tension.

saveJuliet Martin is a human interest reporter for the local newspaper, aspiring to do more investigative work. She stumbles upon a money laundering operation and makes a date to meet her informant for dinner on Valentine’s Day. Her informant, who she has yet to meet in person, never shows up.

Air Force Pararescue Jumper Ezra Washington has just returned from deployment in Afghanistan. All he wants is a little rest, relaxation and solitude while he is home on leave. Somehow he gets roped into a blind date, on Valentine’s Day no less, by his best friend’s older sister. Ezra mistakenly goes to the wrong restaurant and not knowing his date’s name, ends up at Juliet’s table.

Juliet and Ezra have instant chemistry, which they give into after surviving two life threatening experiences.

This is a well-written, hot novella. If you have a little time to spare, spend it in Port Calypso with Juliet and Ezra.

I generally do not like novellas because I prefer a full length novel. This sounds good though.
