Destitute Until the Italian’s Diamond by Julia James is filled with brilliance.

Salvatore is certain he’s burnt every boat in his possession when he turns down a marriage offer (demand) to one of his business colleague’s daughter. The only way to get them both off his back is to invest in a fake marriage.

Scammed by her ex-boyfriend Lana is working herself to the bone to keep on top of her mortgage payments. Cast in the role of a lifetime, Lana agrees to be Salvatore’s wife for 12 months only. Salvatore being allergic to marriage; and Lana head over heels in attraction with Salvatore is, surely, not a disaster waiting to happen.

I adored Lana. She is written with such class! Even when she had wine thrown over her. Pure class from page 1. And really, how could you not grow to love Salvatore, Italian playboy through and through.

The thing that makes Julia James’s latest release magical is her ability to use descriptive words. The words are so simple but so, so eloquently capture every moment; Lana drifting away into the crowd when they first meet, the outside environment of the limo ride, Lana’s eye widening reaction to Salvatore’s outrageously insane offer; Lana’s causal but sleek wardrobe; no apology in the opening pages description that makes it clear Salvatore is a playboy through and through. Opulence abundant; Julia James captures the essence of the Presents world my imagination conjures up.

Destitute Until The Italian’s Diamond by Julia James is filled with brilliance! And sassy banter! 10/10 for me.

Lana knows that Salvatore is in an unfamiliar business bind that can only be solved by taking her as his wife. But while Lana’s head agrees to take the Luchesi name, her traitorous body craves the forbidden touch of her sinfully attractive new husband…
