Double Take by Leslie Kelly: What do you get when a sex therapist and police chief find themselves huddled together on the rockiest ferry ride of their lives? A refreshing, steamy romance between two people that for the first time ever, experience true, over the top, lust and love. doubleLindsey Smith had a rough childhood. Her parents were virtually non-existent and she was even placed in a foster home for a short period of time while they got their act together and regrouped. She grew up unloved, poor and uncared for. The only true constant in her life was her friend Callie. To this day, they are best friends and when Callie needs a huge favor, Lindsey is able to step up to the plate, without her professional life interfering. Callie is a teacher on Wild Boar Island. Lindsey is an excellent sex therapist and counsels woman on taking control of their sexuality. Due to some negative press, Lindsey’s conservative bosses have put her on temporary leave. Very reluctantly, she agrees with their decision. How did Lindsey’s professional life spiral out of control?

Pieces of her dissertation went viral and she is now not only a laughingstock, she is tabloid fodder and a “Jeopardy” question. All because of her “Thinkgasm” philosophy, which actually seems to work for many women. Lindsey ends up on the small island of Wild Boar, teaching science to grades kindergarten through twelfth for a few months, while Callie takes care of herself and her very premature infant. Enroute to the the island via ferry, she meets Mike Santori, the new island police chief. They have instant chemistry that can not be denied. Within a week of Lindsey’s arrival, they are screwing like bunnies. However, their new found relationship is behind closed doors because neither wants to jeopardize their positions within the uppity, small town community. Mike’s position as police chief is probationary and rattling the town council in any way will certainly cause him his job.

I really liked this story. Lindsey and Mike are great together. Lots of laugh out loud moments occur when Lindsey’s box of sex toys and vibrators falls open, right in front of Mike’s surprised eyes. Mike’s jokes about her being a sex addict and owning stock in a sex toy company were hilarious.

I loved the way Ms. Kelly evolved their relationship, beginning with the hottest sex ever and then getting to know each other over time. I especially liked Lindsey, because she defied the odds and became a success, despite her dismal childhood. Overall, a sexy read with an alpha male, realistic characters and an entertaining plot.

After the dangerous streets of Chicago, Mike Santori figured the island was a safe, sane place to settle down. Getting hot for the new teacher wasn’t in the plan. Especially when he discovers that Lindsey is more than she claims to be. Mike decides to use every sexy trick in the book to strip Lindsey of her defenses and reveal all of her secrets. I want to read this book. I don’t see many books set in Michigan so I’m curious to see if Wild Boar Island reminds me of any place I know.
