Falling Hard by Stacy Finz: After discovering who his biological father was and the land he came from, Logan finds himself digging into his roots and, while there, falling hard for Annie Sparks. An ex-SEAL, Logan’s never had a consistent romantic relationship, and he doesn’t plan on starting now. Especially not when he’s about to partner up with a Navy buddy and do contract work overseas.
Annie’s taking this summer to work as a consultant on a farm and finally devote her attention to her future owning her own farming property, not on fixing her family’s. The last thing she expects is for Logan to come along and woo his way right into her heart.
They may fall hard for one another, but with such different expectations and desires for the future, one in the slow and close community of Nugget and the other based in San Diego with deadly missions overseas, their relationship has a near end.
Falling Hard is definitely a cute story. Logan and Annie both are sweethearts and way too adorable. They honestly match perfectly and I can just perfectly imagine them growing old happily together. Annie gives Logan that sense of home and he gives her the strength and protection she’s always had to have for others.
And while there was conflict with the whole widely different futures thing, it just felt a little silly and unnecessary. A lot of events happen, but nothing gets very deep and I just didn’t feel a whole lot of depth to the story or characters. Also, small issue, but all the military aspects of Logan felt very contrived and for me it really reduced his character since it came across in such a fake way.
That said, Falling Hard is cute, sweet, and simple and that’s all it needs to be. I tend to like a little more intensity, but for those who want the small town read I recommend Falling Hard. It can be read as a standalone, but to get a stronger feel of the community it might be good to begin with the first.

This is the summer of Annie Sparks—at least according to her. No more supporting lazy jerks or coddling irresponsible family or taking care of anyone who doesn’t deserve her help. Instead she’s headed to an estate in a remote mountain town, to spend her summer with her boots covered in mud and her hands working the earth. Love is the last thing on her mind.
Nugget is a long way from Logan Jenkins’ old life as a Navy SEAL. But before he starts fresh in the private sector, he receives a bequest from a man he never knew: his biological father. To learn more about his background, Logan makes his way to his late father’s estate, where he is immediately knocked on his heels by an incredible woman with a heart of gold.
Annie’s not looking for a fling, and Logan knows Nugget can’t be forever, so falling in love should be impossible. But when they’re together, time stops, and suddenly the impossible seems like the only thinkable option . . .
