Feels like the First Time by Marina Adair will have you hooked from the beginning. What starts off as a fake relationship becomes very real, very fast.

Ali Marshal wants Bradley Hawk, but he’s sort of on the forbidden side. He used to be married to her sister and that screams “hands off” but the man is good with his hands and knows how to use his stick, so resisting Hawk will take all of Ali’s willpower, especially since she’s had feelings for him since college.

When Ali’s sister, Bridget, blows in to town with her new fiancée, Ali decides to help Hawk out and pretend to be his date. Hawk doesn’t need her pity, besides the heat from their kisses, proves that pity is the last thing anyone is feeling.

“You seem to be really focused on my stick, sunshine. Is there something you want to talk about?”

The chemistry between these two is downright scorching and you can’t fake that kind of attraction. Who knew a little white lie could turn into something oh, so right?!

Ali and Hawk have a great relationship. Before this “fake” relationship was established they were great friends and neither of them wants to lose that, but the passion they feel when they are together can’t be ignored. Both characters have flaws, though. Hawk was married to Bridget, so his feelings for her are still there, and it takes him a little bit to come to the realization that he’s over her. As for Ali, she’s loyal and very independent. She’s also afraid of being heart broken, again. When things get serious, will Ali let go of her fear or will she lose Hawk, for good?

I loved both characters. Both, Ali and Hawk were endearing characters, who you can’t help but love. It was easy to stay invested in this story, thanks to them. The conflict in the story was well-done, but I will say that I wasn’t too fond of Bridget. I have no idea how Hawk or Ali could care about her. She came off very selfish and I wish someone would have put her in her place, a time or two.

You can’t go wrong with a book from Marina Adair. She excels at romance that tugs on your heart strings while still coming through as light-hearted. If you’re a fan of the friends to lovers trope, this is the book for you!

What’s wrong with a little white lie?

There are a lot of things Ali Marshal doesn’t do: pink anything, a day without chocolate, and Hawk, her sister’s ex-husband. Sure, he’s a sexy former NHL star who can make her pulse pound with just a wink. But he belonged to Bridget first. And no matter how long she’s had a crush on him, how great he’s always been to her dad, or that her sister is engaged to someone else now and Ali needs a date to their engagement party, she can’t give in to temptation. Can she?

It’s been years since his disastrous marriage crashed and burned, and Bradley Hawk has finally moved on. So when Bridget blows back into town with her new fiancé, throwing the engagement party of the year, he could care less . . . until Ali tells one little lie that lands him smack dab in a fake relationship. After one promise to be Ali’s date and two of the hottest kisses he’s ever had, Hawk can’t deny how much he wants her. But what happens when this fauxmance starts to feel very, very real?
