In Finding his Wife, Finding a Son (Bondi Bay Heroes #2) by Marion Lennox, Dr. Luc Braxton lost the woman he loved years ago when his overprotectiveness forced her to walk away. However, when Luc is sent to a collapsed shopping mall to help rescue victims, he never imagined he’d find his fiercely independent ex-wife to be amongst the survivors. Determined to take her in and help her through her recovery, Luc finds himself falling in love with her all over again. Will Luc be able to convince Beth that they deserve a second chance at forever after or will she walk away again for the same reasons she walked away years ago?

”They’re losing you, too. And so am I.” The desolation he felt was almost overwhelming.
“Yeah, but the alternative is me losing me,” she said, striving for lightness. “And that’s a whole heap worse.”

What an emotionally-charged, fast-paced, extremely engaging read Ms. Lennox has delivered in the second book of this Bondi Bay Heroes series where I loved everything about the main characters, most especially their past history; the dialogue was entertaining due to the medical emergencies that need to be dealt with and the main characters back stories because the heroine has lost so much and Luc has always felt such guilt when it comes to her medical condition; and the fast-paced plot had me reading quickly determined to discover whether the hero would be able to give Beth the one thing she wants most – for the two of them to be equals, if they were to have a future together since she’s fiercely independent and doesn’t need a protector.

With the main characters, I absolutely loved the heroine. She’s been through so much, and yet, everything she’s been through has made her the fierce and independent woman she is; a woman that has managed to achieve so much including a wonderful career. Certainly, she hasn’t allowed her medical condition to hold her back, even if it does limit her in certain situations. I also liked the tight bond she shared with her son and that she would do anything for the young boy. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was that she took a chance on Luc, even though that wasn’t easy because he’s still the way-too-overprotective man he was back when they were together. While the hero, he’s been through a lot too, and I could understand why he thinks he needs Beth more than she needs him. I also liked how protective Luc was of Beth and her son and how he was willing to fight for her, which is proven by how he goes up against Beth’s employer. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was the confidence he has in his skills as a doctor, the fact that he can handle anything under pressure and I liked how determined he was to win over Beth because he still loves her.

”Liquorice? What sort of ice-cream freak are you?”
“A man of taste,” he told her. “What’s your poison?”
“Salted caramel every time. And Toby loves rainbow.”’
“Rainbow?” He looked appalled. “Doesn’t that make…?”
“An appalling mess? Yes, it does. And you know what? Sight impairment works just fine for that. All I need to do is remove my glasses and my little boy is just a sticky, Technicolor bundle of happiness. You have a problem?”

Overall, Ms. Lennox has delivered another really good read for this series where the chemistry between this couple was strong and present from the moment they come face-to-face, as these two still have pretty intense feelings for each other; the romance was heart-warming and had me loving that Beth gave Luc a chance; and the ending had me loving the decision the hero makes when it comes to his future with the heroine. No way can he lose her a second time. I would recommend Finding his Wife, Finding a Son by Marion Lennox, if you enjoy medical romances, the second chance romance trope or books by authors Alison Roberts, Meredith Webber, Dianne Drake and Sue Mackay.
