Fixing to be Mine by Lyra Parish: Stormy was supposed to walk down the aisle. Instead, she drove straight into the middle of nowhere, wearing her wedding dress,
I just adored this book, there is just something about the small town romance trope that will aways steal my heart and this is most definitely the case with Stormy and Colt. The whole runaway bride drama at the start of the book was easily the best hook and let me just tell you Parish does not disappoint as the book progresses, with easy to love characters, small town gossip and a story that leave you feeling warm and content Fixing To Be Mine was just perfection.
If there is one thing I love, it is a strong leading lady and that is exactly what we get from Stormy. Our leading lady is no shrinking wallflower, nope, she is a total boss girl ready to reinvent herself and live her best life. I loved the fact that she was a bit of a mess but so determined to find herself again even after she had had her trust broken and her heart a bit bashed. Really it was impossible not to relate to her and root her on as she learned to trust again and open herself up to love. I will say that I did like her whole alter ego Sunny for the first bit of the book, but it was when she finally embraced her true self that really made for a turning point. Now lets just take a moment to talk about our hero, Colt was easily one of the sweetest heroes that you will find. He was a total fixer, but in the best way possible, he didn’t rush Stormy but instead gave her a place to feel safe and allowed her the space and time to fix herself. Really there was not a single thing not to love about Colt, the man was a walking green flag and getting to see him falling in love was just beautiful. While he did not have any major drama or big character development, it was nice to see his quiet changes and seeing him learn that it is okay to want to be a bit selfish and live for himself. Truly Colt was a total sweetheart and just the guy that Stormy needed to show her that unconditional love is real.
I just loved the connection between Colt and Stormy, there was a slow sweet build up between these two that just felt so raw and beautiful. I loved the fact that there was no drama or big issues between them. We get to see them slowly let their guards down and allow each other to support each other. Colt was just the soft and caring kind of guy that Stormy needed to show her unconditional love and support, while she was the spark of light that he needed to push him to be a bit selfish about seeking his own happiness. While there was some incredible chemistry between Colt and Stormy, it was the quiet moments that really stole my heart.
I have to take a moment to mention the supporting characters in this book who were just perfection! From nosy neighbours with too much time and even more opinions, to Colt’s family that provide more than a few giggles. I loved the close moments and all the banter and ribbing that came with the Valentine family.
I loved every single moment of reading Fixing To Be Mine, this cute small town romance will worm its way right into you heart, from all the slow cute moments to the silly giggles. If you’re in the mood for something that’s comforting but still full of depth, with a hero you’ll fall hard for and a heroine you’ll root for from the start, then this is definitely the book for you!
Book Info:

She rolls into town with a bag full of cash, a designer wedding dress stuffed in her trunk, and zero plans to stay… until we meet.
Runaway bride shows up outta nowhere?
Most folks would call that a red flag.
Me? I call it a typical Tuesday and hand her a key.
I’ve been rebuilding this old house for someone just like her, and she’s finally here.
Rumors fly that she’s my girlfriend, and we don’t bother correcting anyone.
Pretty soon, she’s wearing my old T-shirts, sleeping in my bed, and turning my world upside down.
Now I’m calling this city girl darlin’ like she already belongs to me.
She thinks she’ll be able to leave when the dust settles.
But we both know she’s fixin’ to be mine.
