Going for the Goal by Sara Rider is one of those books that belong in the “read again” pile. This is book three in her Perfect Play Series, but can definitely be read as a standalone and I will say, that this is my favorite book from this author, so far. I adored the main characters and will regard them as “old friends.”

Our heroine, Jillian Nichols, is a female sports agent. I can’t begin to even tell you how much I loved this!! Spots agents are notorious for being of the male variety, so Jillian has to work twice has hard in this male dominated career to even get a leg up. Thankfully, Jillian has a few qualities that make her very special. She’s knowledgable, honest, and is all about her clients. She’s knows what it’s like when sports agents take advantage of their clients and she is nothing like those guys. She works for her clients and tries to do right by them. I loved her from the very beginning. She does have issues about letting people in and is a workaholic who needs to fix everything, but her relationship with our hero will change that.

Nick “The Punisher” Salinger needs a new agent. He just fired his current one and needs someone that will fight for what he wants. He remembers Jillian from years back when they were stuck in a stairwell together and even though there are more experienced agents out there that want him, he believes Jillian is his only answer. But getting Jillian to take him on as a client will prove to be his biggest challenge. Nick is the bad boy of the NHL and Jillian has rules about which type of clients she takes on. Does Nick have what it takes to show her his real side?

The attraction between Jillian and Nick was set from the beginning and never once, waned. As they begin working together, that attraction only increases and deeper feelings develop. Overall, there relationship is pure gold. The banter between the two provides for many hilarious moments and the romance is done very well, in a way that’s believable and envious.

If you love sports romances or just romance in general, I highly recommend this book and if you haven’t read the previous titles in this series, check those out, also. My only wish…was that it was available in print, so I could add it to my bookshelf.
