Marissa Sloan was raised singlehandedly by her mother, without any help from her father. She knows that her mother has worked hard and unfortunately she was not able to get into the undergraduate program to finish her career as a psychologist and there are not many jobs out there with her degree. Thankfully her mother’s friend got her a job as a clerk at a farm store. She will work there until she can go back to school.
Neither Marissa nor Brant expect is to find love the first time they meet. But this brooding and supposedly playboy will have to gather his courage to ask her out, even if it is only the second time they meet. And as much as Marissa wants to play hard to get, she knows that if she wants to have something with him she must give him a chance, for she knows how much people can be wrong in their perception of others.
This is a beautiful story that will make you smile, and not only because you get two romances in one. You get to see Brant and Marissa fall in love, but you will also see their friends Rowlings and Rowan follow in their footsteps close behind. You also get to see how feelings can run deeper than the eye can see, the way they do in Brant’s father. And the way that feelings can help you go through anything to have your loved one follow their dreams and have the courage to go through separation and still believe in the one you love.
