Her Real Family Christmas by Kate Hardy: Dr Stephanie Scott is still recovering from the heartbreak of her recent divorce and getting close to anyone will not be possible for a really long time. But she is proved wrong when she meets single dad and obstetric surgeon Daniel Connor and his cute daughter Mia.Spending time with them opens Stephanie’s eyes to the possibility that her longed-for wish–a family of her very own–might just come true this Christmas…
“You’ve done a fantastic job. Thank you so much,” Stephanie said and
kissed the tip of Mia’s nose.
Mia stared at her, then put her arms round Stephanie’s neck. “You kissed
me.”
“Is that okay?” Had she gone too far?
Mia nodded. “But you only kiss people you love.”
“Ye-es.”
“I love you,” Mia said and kissed the end of Stephanie’s nose.
Stephanie had a huge lump in her throat as she whispered, ‘I love you, too.”
The little girl fell asleep on the sofa not long afterward, clearly tired out.
Stephanie gently put a blanket over her.
Her Real Family Christmas by Kate Hardy is a beautifully written sweet romance about second chances and happily after evers. Both the characters had gone through the heartbreak of losing someone or something. For Stephanie, it was the loss of a family she wanted desperately through the divorce and for Joe it was the loss of his wife who was his true love.
I liked both the characters because their problems made them more relatable and I was so happy for the second chance life gave them. The christmas setting makes it much more magical and heartwarming. The medical aspects are fun to read and in perfect coordination with the romance and story. The only thing I felt was lacking was conflict, the story was too sweet and perfect sometimes.
“I ought to get her home,” Daniel said.
Stephanie shook her head. “Don’t wake her just yet, Dan.” She paused.
“Well, now I have a tree, I really ought to have a Christmas party.”
“The three of us?” he asked.
“I was thinking…is it too late to ask your family over for Christmas Eve?”
“That’s a great idea,” Dan said. “Call them.”
“What, now?”
He smiled. “Yes, now.”
Overall, Her Real Family Christmas by Kate Hardy is a well written, sweet and magical story about second chances. The romance is sweet and you can’t help falling love with the characters who are a great addition to the story.
Recommended for Kate Hardy fans and people who like a sweet christmas romance.
