Her-Second-Chance-FamilyHer Second-Chance Family by Holly Jacobs: Karma is something else. Sometimes you don’t realize it’s not just your karma you are messing with and with the future uncertain what’s more important?

Audrey Smith knew what it was like to be passed around, to not have a family or love or roots. She also knew she could do something to break out of the cycle to give others a home. So, at 28, she was a single mother of three foster kids working to make the planet just a little bit better one compost pile at a time.

Sawyer Williams was a banker and, though not intentionally, a bit self-centered. It wasn’t that he didn’t care but he didn’t think outside of his world all that much until one day his house was broken into and he realized he needed to see the larger world.

Being thrown together by a juvenile delinquent isn’t the best of beginnings but sometimes fate and karma have a way of making you see things you in different lights. However when something unusual comes up will Sawyer run back to his “safe” world, or will he be able to understand the bigger picture?

This is without a doubt one of the best romances I’ve read in a very long time. I have to give Ms. Jacobs a lot of credit for focusing tremendously on the plot line and all of the details that make this story come to life. She not only breathes life into all of her characters, main or secondary, she twists her readers into this plot that is so realistic and so earthy that it’s almost like Audrey could be your best friend sitting beside you telling you her true love story as well as her life. Ms. Jacobs has accomplished an inspiring romance with this novel. Do yourself a favor and pick it up.

Good can come out of bad.

If it wasn’t for the tragic accident ten years earlier, Audrey Smith might never have taken in the three foster kids she loves so dearly. And if it wasn’t for her new addition to her home — a troubled teenage thief — she wouldn’t be fantasising about Sawyer Williams.

Make no mistake — Sawyer’s the victim here. He’s the one who was robbed by Audrey’s daughter. But teaching the teen a lesson rather than punishing her makes Sawyer a superhero in Audrey’s eyes. Someone who can forgive and forget. Until another break-in rocks their community, threatening Audrey’s family and her future with Sawyer.
