His Brand of Justice by Delores Fossen  is the fourth book in her Longview Ridge Ranch series. This is the story of the final Slater brother, Jack. His three brothers, Kellen (Safety Breach), Owen (A Threat to His Family) and Eli (Settling An Old Score) have all found their special someone. In each of the previous books in the series the unsolved crime of the death of their father overshadows the happiness of the family. Finally they have their closure. The killer is revealed.

Caroline Moser was a profiler working with Gemma Hanson on a project at the local university. Unbeknownst to either woman their research assistant Eric Lang was a serial killer. He ended up abducting Caroline and struck her head hard enough for the injury to cause amnesia. Eric is no longer a problem but Caroline is still placed in the WITSEC program with her former lover Marshal Jack Slater overseeing her stay in the safe house. Due to the amnesia Caroline doesn’t remember Jack… until she does. Her memory has returned but she doesn’t trust any male in law enforcement because when she was being held by Eric she heard him talking to someone and heard the police radio in the background so she thinks someone in law enforcement is a dirty cop. Caroline just doesn’t know who to trust. Then the location of her safe house is compromised and the attempts on her life begin. Caroline comes to trust Jack will keep her safe and believes he loves her. They just need to survive these attacks and find out who is behind them.

Marshal Jack Slater is hoping the love of his life Caroline Moser gets her memory back. One of the last things she said to Jack before being kidnapped was, “I love you” something he hadn’t told her back. Also it is believed that Caroline knows who gunned down his sheriff father and the deputy that fateful day when she was kidnapped. When Caroline’s safe house was compromised and the attempts on her life commenced Jack went into super protector mode. It is imperative to find out who is gunning for Caroline. Nothing can happen to her. He loves her too much to lose her.

I always enjoy Ms. Fossen’s writing style in her romantic suspense stories. I love how she lays out all sorts of possibilities and suspects for the reader to cogitate on. Then she ties up all the suspicions for the final reveal. This is classic Delores Fossen and a great read.
