Honey and Heat by Aurora Palit: Cynthia Kumar has always had her life planned out, well that is until her father throws a curveball she didn’t see coming. Well on her way to taking over the family business, the last thing Cynthia expected was for her father to name someone else his successor… and of the people for it to be Rohit, her steamy one night stand! With tension high and sparks flying in the boardroom Cynthia and Rohit need to decide if they can put their business rivalry to bed in order to return the company to its former glory, all while trying to figure out these new feelings blooming between them.

When a work place romance is done right it is a total hit in my books and that is exactly what we get from Honey And Heat, this banter filled, cute enemies to lovers romance will have you hooked with all the office politics, one upping each other antics and all the saucy moments in-between!

I really liked Cynthia, she was bold and ambitious. She knew that she had to prove herself and this only made her more determined to be the best she could be. Even when things looked like they were stacked against her, she was determined to prove herself and stand her ground. Where as Rohit was more calm and confident about himself. While he was confident, Rohit still remained charming and down to Earth and generally a nice guy. Truly it was hard not to love this guy with his easy going nature and unconditional love for his family.

Oh how I love a good slow burn build up and that is definitely what we get with Rohit and Cynthia. These two might have had a steamy one night together but that does not stop the slow back and forth that we get to see play out while they battle in the boardroom. I just ate it all up, the banter, their power plays and the fact that neither of them wanted to give an inch! These two had the perfect mix of spicy and sweet. As their story unfolds we get to see them open up to each other more and more which makes their ultimate relationship feel all the more rewarding and heartfelt.

One of the things I really appreciated about this book was the South Asian representation woven through the story. From the family dynamics to cultural expectations, it added so much depth to Cynthia and Rohit’s characters. What I really liked was the fact that it wasn’t just surface level details, we get to explore themes like tradition, ambition and the weight of family legacy, while still keeping the story fun and romantic. It felt authentic and gave the book an extra layer that made it stand out from other workplace romances I’ve read.

All in all I enjoyed reading Honey And Heat, if you are looking for a cute, sassy and a bit steamy office romance that has heart, then this is definitely the book for you!

Cynthia Kumar always wins. She’s successful, competitive, and knows exactly what she to be the heir to her father’s multimillion dollar business.

Except, her father just chose his successor and it’s not her…it’s her one-night stand.

Rohit Patel can’t believe his luck. He’s just landed the opportunity of a lifetime, his future is once again on track, and the woman he just spent the night with could be the love of his life.

When Kumar Constructions falls under scrutiny, both Cynthia and Rohit are determined to see its tarnished reputation restored to its original glory. As they each try to swoop in and save the day, their game of one-upmanship fails spectacularly, leaving them no choice but to set their differences aside and work together. But as their partnership to save the company—and their feelings for one another—blossoms, they’ll have to decide what’s more important…their careers or love?
