Honeybees and Sexy Tees by Katie Mettner is the second book in her Butterfly Junction series.
Eight-year-old Honey Blois was experiencing a terrible childhood with her drug-addicted, drug-dealing parents until one day she met ten-year-old Mathias Jorgensen who took her home to his mother and father. The Jorgensens took Honey under their wings and life got much better for her. Oh, and that first meeting between the two youngsters was the day Honey found her soulmate and fell in love with Mathias.
Honey spent most of her days with the Jorgensens. Her parents never seemed to notice she was gone. They never seemed to care. As an adult Honey started working for Mathias. She found it very difficult at times. It was tough being around the man she loved when he showed no signs of loving her back. Maybe Honey needed to move on with her life. Would Mathias even notice?
Mathias Jorgensen was blessed with wonderful parents and a safe, comfortable childhood. He also felt blessed to have such a wonderful best friend in Honey Blois. Mathias was living the good life; rich from a successful business, able to enjoy good food, fine wine and beautiful women. Something happened to make him realize that he didn’t like who he had become. In his youth he always told Honey that he wanted to help people and do good things for the community. That wasn’t what he had been doing. Money had become all important. Mathias was determined to change and become the person he always wanted to be, a person worthy of Honey’s love.
This book has an interesting storyline. The two main characters, Honey and Mathias are best friends but both want their relationship to become more. Honey despairs that Mathias will ever love her. Mathias needs to accept the good person he is who deserves Honey’s love. It takes work but the two do manage to fulfill their dreams of a Happily Ever After. Readers who like the friends to lovers genre will enjoy this book.
