How Sweet It Is by Dylan Newton: Kate Sweet is known for her gift at creating the most prefect happily ever afters and ensuring each and every bride that hires her gets the perfect fairytale day and then some. So when her best friend some how manages to rope her into doing a book launch for best selling author Drake Matthews the Knight of Nightmares, Kate jumps at the opportunity after all surely Drake can’t be as scary as the media is making him out to be, right? Fully prepared to make the best introduction, all equipped with black power suit and a kick butt event plan Kate heads to meet the one and only Knight of Nightmares, the only thing being Kate did not expect him to be so downright handsome! If practically climbing the guy on his porch isn’t bad enough Kate somehow manages to accidentally maim Drake with her shoe, as far as bad first meetings this one is definitely one for the books. However with Kates best friends job on the line she is determined to prove to Drake that he should keep her on as his event planner no mater the cost.

“After stabbing you, the least I could do was save you from cracking your head open.”
A hint of a smile replaced the grimace on his face.
“Fine. You saved me. After you filleted me open with those killer heels, you saved me, and since I saved you from an attack of the deadly Shih Tzu, I guess that makes us even. We are true heroes.”

Drake is used to being call the maker of bad dreams and all that comes with writing horror novels, the one thing he was not prepared for was the historical romance that he has been itching to write, or the fiery red headed party planner that has finally kicked his writing juices into full gear! With his writing juices finally flowing and Kate being the one to inspire their return, Drake is determined to keep his new muse close by, which is exactly what prompts him to agreeing to her crazy book launch ideas on the condition that she helps him ‘research’ for his next book. However somewhere between the event prep and their long random chats the Knight of Nightmares begins to fall for the Queen of Happily Ever Afters, but will these two be able to overcome a major hurdle in the pursuit of their own happily ever after?

“Our story began with a crazy, fortunate collision in my front yard. Then, after a series of happily chaotic, sometimes awkward scenes later, we have our hero and heroine potentially together. I love you, Kate Sweet. And I want to see what our next chapter brings.”

How Sweet It Is, is the absolute perfect title for this amazing romcom. This was the perfect combination of sweet swoony goodness, sassy girl boss and so many laugh out loud moments! This was one of those books that I just couldn’t put down but at the same time tried desperately not to finish too fast, oh the dilemma of having a good book!

“There’s my favorite punctuation,” he said, kissing the spot to the left of her lips. “I think you’ll always give me pause, Kate Sweet.”

Both Kate and Drake were such amazing characters with insanely hot chemistry. Kate was such a hoot to read, I loved that she was so committed to creating the prefect event for her clients and that she went above and beyond to bring them to life. I loved all her spreadsheets and planning but it was her awkward quirky moments that made her one of my favorite female characters. Be it their hilarious first meeting or jumping into an empty crypt Kate was just a bundle of laughs.

“Now, maybe nobody will recognize you. For a little while, you’re just a regular guy about to dance with a regular girl.”
“There’s just one problem, You’ve never been a regular girl to me, Kate.”

However it was Drake that truly stole my romance loving heart, if you’re a fan of a grouchy hero who is actually a big ole softie then Drake is the guy for you! I absolutely loved watching this big scary horror author writing such a beautiful historical romance, while having such a cute little puppy Sasha. Drake was genuinely a great guy, that wanted to do his bit to help out retired veterans. I absolutely loved all the detail that went into describing Drakes family home, I was so ready for some creepy moment to happen each time Kate was at the house, that is how good Newton was with depicting the house! Another thing I loved about Drake was that he was not afraid of a successful woman, he supported Kate and her dreams completely.

I have to give all the secondary characters a huge shout out, they each made this novel all the more loveable. I absolutely loved both of Drakes brothers and the quirky cute relationship they shared. Also how cute was their mum; Patty! I loved that she gave Kate the little push that she needed and once again pushing Drake and Kate together at the Harvest Festival. I loved Imani and the little bits that we got to see of her. I have to say that I also loved the way Drake brought Kate and her family back together.

How Sweet It Is, is definitely a must read, this super cute laugh out loud romcom will have you hooked right from Drake and Kates hilarious first meeting. I do hope that the rest of the Matthews brothers get their own books soon!
