It’s Only Love by Marie Force: Gavin has not dealt with his brother’s death very well ever Its-Only-Lovesince he got the news. Ever since losing his brother’s dog, he’s really been spiraling. The only one who seems to make him feel again in a positive way is Ella, his brother’s sister-in-law. Ella has been in love with Gavin for what seems like forever. She never thought they really had a chance until they kissed last year. It was everything she expected and so much more, but Gavin has continued to push her away ever since.

When Ella finally vows to get over Gavin, she gets a phone call that he needs her. She can’t stop herself from helping him this one last time, but he now miraculously seems ready to change his life and give in to their obvious chemistry.

“This is me admitting that I need you, that I’m tired of fighting whatever this is that’s been happening between us for years now, that-”
She drew back to look up at him. “Gavin?”
“What?”
“Shut up and kiss me.”

Ella isn’t about to look a gift horse in the mouth, but she’s also somewhat cautious. He’s pushed her away for years and he hasn’t been in a great place recently. She has no desire to have her heart crushed, but she has to pursue this chance. It doesn’t help that her friends and family all question this sudden relationship.

Gavin is ready to make some changes, but he’s also not quite ready to face all of his demons. Ella knows that he needs to really face people and situations he’s been avoiding to move their relationship forward, but she is also hesitant to push too hard or too fast.

“Are we going to be okay, Ella? Are we going to be able to make this work?”
“As long as you stay with me rather than running away when things get hard.”
“I will. I’m here to stay.”
“Then we’re going to be just fine.”

It’s Only Love is an emotional and heartwarming friends to lovers story that’s been a long time coming. It’s Only Love can be read as a standalone in this small town contemporary series. Marie Force created believable reactions in Ella when Gavin finally was ready to acknowledge his feelings for her. Ms. Force also provided a great cast of secondary characters in their friends and family. Fans of Carly Phillips and Kristan Higgins will enjoy It’s Only Love.
