Just for the Cameras by Meghan Quinn: As a professional football star Graydon is no stranger to the spotlight. Does he like it? Not even one bit, but
when a PR misstep threatens his career, he is forced into a reputation-repair plan that lands him somewhere he never expected… a zoo with a camera crew and one relentlessly cheerful zookeeper named Maple. The assignment is simple smile, play nice and convince the public he’s changed. Well that is turning out to be a whole lot more complicated than Graydon expected…Maple has built a life around caring for animals, embracing joy and refusing to let the world harden her. Agreeing to a fake relationship with a brooding athlete really wasn’t part of her long-term plan but if it helps protect the place and creatures she loves then she is willing to play along…After all it’s just an act…Temporary…Harmless…Except pretending to be in love has a way of blurring lines. As staged moments turn into real conversations and lingering touches their carefully rehearsed narrative begins to unravel. Graydon’s walls crack under Maple’s warmth, while Maple discovers that the man behind the scowl carries more weight than he lets on. Between forced proximity, razor-sharp banter and chemistry that refuses to stay scripted their “just for show” relationship becomes something neither of them is prepared to walk away from…
LOVED!!! This was the perfect example of why I keep coming back to a Meghan Quinn book! Some books are fun, some are swoony and then there are those rare romcoms that manage to be laugh out loud hilarious and quietly heartfelt at the same time, well in my humble opinion Just For The Cameras was firmly in that last category! Quinn delivers a five-star fake-dating romance that leans hard into grump meets sunshine perfection, layered with sharp banter, emotional depth and characters who sneak up on you and refuse to let go. This was easily one my my favourite reads of the year and I don’t see it shifting anytime soon!
While these two should definitely not work together, there was just some kind of magic that Quinn weaved into Graydon and Maple that instantly made them a hit for me. Graydon was gruff, had a tightly wound exterior that hides a man weighed down by expectation, control and the exhausting pressure of always being watched. The more we got to know the real Graydon the more my heart broke for him. His emotional arc is subtle but deeply satisfying as Maple steadily chips away at the walls he has built to survive. Our girl Maple on the other hand was warm, optimistic and fiercely kind, yet grounded by her own fears of being overlooked or dismissed. I loved how much of passion and care Maple showed to the animals and the fact that they were more than just a job to her, they were her safe happy place. And getting to see her allowing Graydon into her safe space only made me love this couple all the more. These two didn’t try to fix each other but instead create a space for honesty, vulnerability and growth.
The connection between Graydon and Maple crackles from their very first interaction, built not just on attraction but on curiosity and emotional safety. I loved that their connection didn’t feel rushed or flashy but rather built and simmered in the quiet moments. Every “just for the cameras” moment feels charged because it was rooted in something real. What makes their dynamic so addictive was how effortlessly the banter gives way to vulnerability, allowing attraction to evolve into trust and genuine affection.
Just For The Cameras was the kind of romance that reminds you why fake dating and grump meets sunshine will never go out of style when done this well. With laugh out loud humour, genuine emotional depth and a love story that feels both comforting and electric Quinn has once again out done herself in the addictively cute romcom. This is a total must read!

They’re faking it for the cameras. But what if the sparks are real?
Graydon St. John doesn’t do drama―or public appearances. The brooding defensive end for the San Francisco Foghorns prefers silence, solitude, and avoiding headlines. But when a league-wide PR scandal forces him into a media stunt at the city zoo, he’s suddenly face-to-face with squawking birds, nosy fans, and the zookeeper who seems to hate his guts on sight.
Maple Baker loves her flamingos. Loud, pink, messy? Sure. But they’re hers. And the last thing she needs is a grumpy football player stomping into her sanctuary with a bad attitude and a bigger ego. Unfortunately, they’ve been paired for the zoo’s new public outreach program, and the cameras are already rolling.
The banter is sharp. The tension is electric. And the more they pretend to play nice for the press, the more their fake flirtation starts to feel like something dangerously real.
But when family secrets, viral fame, and a PR romance gone off-script threaten everything Maple’s worked for, Graydon must decide if he’s willing to fight for love―or let it slip away to protect her.
