In Love the One You’re With by Lauren Layne, Grace Brighton is one of the leading columnist for Stiletto magazine. Her column is about relationships and warning women about cheating liars and the signs to detect them. After many years in a relationship she never suspected that her fiancé would be one of those rotten, cheating liars.

LTOYWNow Grace has decided to take a life and relationship hiatus, it’s not like she even knows what it takes to go out on a date anymore. When its Grace time to return to work, she runs into a problem getting a cab. When she finally see’s a cab  a very handsome man comes up and hails it first, obviously leaving from a one-night-stand and on his way home or to work. But she needs to take a cab immediately or she will be late, only as he sees the desperation on her eyes does he decide to share the cab with her. The attraction is amazing on both their ends, but Grace will not give in easily.

When she returns to work, an assignment comes up for one of them to go on a couple of dates with a counterpart from the men’s magazine Oxford and report about her impressions. Usually this would have been something for Julie the dating guru, but since she got engaged this is not something that her fiancé would agree to. But when their editor offers the assignment to Grace’s replacement, Grace doesn’t take it lying down and decides to volunteer for the assignment.

Jake Malone wants to get back to his old lifestyle, flying to different places and writing about them. Good thing that the magazine has just added a travel section, he is the perfect man for the job, but with his reputation, his new boss is having serious doubts about his commitment. So now Jake will have to prove himself and his commitment to the job by dating a girl from Stiletto magazine and writing about it.

But when Jake and Grace meet once again and begin their dating things will take a turn for the unexpected. They will both find what was missing in past relationships and in their lives. But Jake will have to make a choice between his dream job and the woman getting under his skin. While Grace will have to learn to trust enough to be able to give her heart once again to maybe have it broken.

What begins as a fling and a job soon turns into something more serious. Grace and Jake have more in the line then just a competition of what magazine is best and the public thinks. If they make the wrong decision they may just lose their one chance at true love.

As a leading columnist for Stiletto, Grace Brighton has built a career warning women about rotten, cheating liars. She just never suspected her fiancé would be one of them. After Grace takes a heart-mending hiatus, her first assignment is to go on a couple of dates with a counterpart from the men’s magazine Oxford and report her impressions. Grace 1.0 may have been instantly smitten with the gorgeous correspondent, but Grace 2.0 has sworn off relationships for six months, and she’s not falling for his outstanding bod and trophy-winning kisses… or is she?

Jake Malone wants to get back to the fly-by-night, who-knows-what’s-next guy he used to be, and he knows exactly how to do it. Oxford is adding a travel section, and Jake—with no wife and no kids and a willingness to live anywhere, eat anything, do everything—is perfect for the job… except that his playboy reputation makes his new editor nervous. To get the gig, he must agree to a fluffy joint article with Stiletto.

But after just one date with snooty, sumptuous, sensational Grace Brighton, Jake starts taking this assignment a whole lot more seriously…
