Mackenzie-Fire-Elle-CaseyMackenzie Fire by Elle Casey: Candice is a Florida girl all about warm sunshine, totally not right for winter time on Ian Mackenzie’s farm. Visiting her pregnant friend Andie, she and Ian spend a whole lot of time together, fighting, and getting much, much closer.

Like the first in the series, Shine Not Burn, I really enjoyed Mackenzie Fire. Going in I was very excited for Ian’s story, the bitter, betrayed (and adorable) brother. And Casey didn’t disappoint.

Ian and Candice’s back and forth was very entertaining and a great lead up to the eventual sparks blowing up between the two. I love a slow lead up, especially one beginning in dislike where they really get to know one another.

While the slower build up was great, by the end I felt it went too quickly. I would have loved a little more in the story before they were all in. Ian is a passionate character and I truly loved it, but just a tiny more tension was needed to make the story a little more interesting.

For any reader I would recommend Mackenzie Fire. It was such a fun journey, and I absolutely loved both Candice and Ian.

Still bitter about his failed engagement and life on the family ranch, Ian MacKenzie has been cranky for nearly three years. His brother Mack’s married bliss hasn’t helped, and now his pregnant sister-in-law’s airhead best friend is coming for a visit.

Candice arrives to help with the new baby, even though it means swapping her Louboutins for snow boots and her flat irons for flannel. She’s far from prepared for the freezing cold and she certainly wasn’t expecting the sizzling heat of her attraction to a certain green-eyed cowboy. Ian may be rude and infuriating, but he looks sinfully good in those jeans of his.

The two clash at every turn, but there’s one thing they can both agree on—if they do give in to their undeniable chemistry, then it’s just a fling…because he’s a country boy and she’s a city girl, and their zip codes are on opposite sides of the map.

She was new to me too, and is definitely now one I’m going to watch out for! And I totally agree, I’m a fan of the grumpy hero, too, especially with just the right heroine who pushes his buttons.
