My Boyfriend and Other Enemies by Nikki Logan: Natasha Sinclair didn’t know a lot about the man mentioned in her mother’s diaries, but she did recognise the tone of his voice when he left a message on her mum’s phone. There was no mistaking it, he loved her. It’s a shame that the woman who loved him back all her life would never get to hear it. The only thing she could think to do is meet him, maybe they could share their grief in private. Nathaniel couldn’t tell anyone why he was hurting, and Tash simply had no one.

Aiden had the woman’s number. She was after the Moore fortune. Shamelessly pursuing his father even though she was definitely young enough to be his daughter. The only thing he could think to do is to get in their way. If she wanted to get her hands on a Moore, it might as well be him. By the time she realized what was going on, he could dump her and get her out of their lives.

If only it were that simple. When Tash not only stands up to Aiden, but also refuses him – flatly – he has no clue how to behave. He finally believes she’s not sleeping with his father, but that almost makes it worse. With nothing standing in the way, she still won’t give in to him. Aiden’s not used to being bested, but he readily admits that Tash does just that. Several times over.

Just when he thought the situation couldn’t get any worse, he finds out who she really is. She’s a Porter. The name only used in hushed tones. The name he’d come to hate. The name of the woman who had an affair with his father. Aiden has spent his entire adult life with the knowledge that his mother was the innocent party. He was her protector, her knight. It was the least he could do for all of her sacrifice.

But Tash knew better. She knew there was more to the story. She simply couldn’t let the status quo continue to be the status quo. She needed the truth, and until she had the whole story, there would be no giving in to Aiden Moore. Absolutely not. No matter how much she wanted to. Too bad he didn’t get that memo. And when push comes to shove, she has to confront his father. Nothing can happen until the whole story is told.

This book was quite complicated. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked it! However, there were some very squirmy moments which I’m not going to detail in my review. Suffice to say, I think Tash handled things as well as she could in the circumstances. My heart broke for Adele and Nathaniel – they were soulmates, but torn apart by jealousy and duty. I also felt the pain that Aiden would’ve felt when he learns about his father’s past.

On the *very* bright side, it was refreshing to see a hero that freely copped to his manipulation when the heroine called him out. And also refreshing to read a heroine that said things plainly, no matter how much it stung. They were definitely a match for each other, and throughout some very tense moments, handled things the way they had to in order to come out the other side.

Another great KISS title, and another great story written by Ms. Logan.
