Night Talk by Maxine Sullivan: Cassie King is a recently divorced Chicagoan, attempting to make a name for herself in the world of evening talk radio. One night, Cassie’s guest interview, a sex therapist, fails to show up. Leon, her producer and very good friend, is able to get a substitute with only minutes to airtime. Cassie has no idea that the man she is chatting with is vacationer Zac Ryan, a hot, sexy, Australian NTelectrician. Zac is in the States for three weeks visiting his best friend Adam, who is in the studio talking about his toy soldier hobby on another radio show.

The on-air banter between Cassie and Zac is witty and sexually charged, even after Cassie realizes that Zac is not a sex therapist. Both of them are able to improvise, poke fun at each other and share interesting anecdotes, chatting as if they have known each other for years. The radio audience loves them and the talk show ratings go through the roof. Needless to say, Leon asks Zac to do some additional guest segments. Cassie and Zac’s immediate chemistry transcends off the air as well. They begin seeing each other and sparks ignite high in the sky.

Cassie is divorced because her now ex-husband Steven cheated on her, in addition to crushing her emotionally. Overtime, Steven has become a bitter, self-centered rat that blames others for his problems. He has hooked his claws into Alicia, a very wealthy young woman, whose Daddy keeps a close eye on all things, including Steven. In order for Steven to partake in Alicia’s money, he has to make her Daddy happy and he will do anything to stay in his good graces. Even if that includes sabotaging Cassie’s radio show, kidnapping her dog or sending letters of complaint to the hospital she volunteers for.

Erin, Zac’s ex-fiancee, decides to visit Zac in the States and shows up at the radio station with Adam. About six months ago, Erin was in a very bad car accident that caused her mentality to alter. She became detached and unapproachable, and their relationship was unsustainable. She believes she wants Zac back, but after some necessary talking, she realizes they were not meant to be. Interestingly enough, Adam is actually in love with her.

Night Talk by Maxine Sullivan is a fun and entertaining read. Luckily, Cassie and Zac’s love is able to overcome Steven’s shenanigans, Erin’s instability and Adam’s jealousy.
