In No One Like You (Chateau Jolie #1) by Heather McGovern, Brooke Sargent needs a big event to organise, if she’s to have any hope of keeping her family’s struggling Chateau open. Too bad she has to work alongside Trevor Bradley to organise a prom after the kid’s original plans go belly-up. Still, Brooke is determined to make the prom the best one they’ve ever had. Will Trevor and Brooke be able to pull off the plans they make or will they lose their shot at happy ever after because Brooke finds it hard to trust?
She was a salty old crone in comparison. “I know you’re forthright and complimentary. I’m not used to it.”
He made a show of contemplating her statement as he turned on the overhead light. “Not used to honesty and compliments. What the hell kind of crowd you been running with, Sarge?”
“The wrong kind,” she muttered.
“Then it’s a good thing you’ve started hanging out with me.”
This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. McGovern and I’m so excited to read more of this series after finishing this book, as this story was absolutely engrossing, fast-paced and a story I couldn’t get enough of because of the hero. Really, he’s charming and determined to help Brooke any way he can, which is something she needs, even if she doesn’t realize it straight away.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and everything the heroine’s ex is putting her through. Will she be able to save her family’s chateau only to lose it to her ex that is determined to take it away from her? Moreover, both the main characters are relatable, likeable and I enjoyed their growing relationship, as Brooke isn’t easy to win over. How long will it take Trevor to win her over? Will Brooke realize she can trust Trevor before it’s too late?
“How would I get their money back?”
“I don’t know. Tell them you’re the attorney for the school district or something. An auditor. A regulator. Throw some legalese around and scare them. I don’t know.”
“You mean lie.”
“Embellish. They’d believe it coming from you. You’ve got that boss air about you.”
With the heroine, she’s a total taskmaster and I loved the nickname the hero had for her, as she definitely loves to give orders. She’s also driven, resilient, courageous and I liked that she gave Trevor a chance, even though that isn’t easy after everything she’s been through with her ex and is still going through with her ex. Really, her ex is a total piece of work and I could understand why she doesn’t give up in the fight she faces with her ex. No way is he going to take anything else from her. While the hero, he’s confident and charming; a wanderer that’s had quite the adventures over the years; and I liked how determined he was to win over the heroine because he’s liked her for some time now. I also liked the relationships the hero has with his siblings, even though it’s not easy for him to handle the fact that they believe he’s going to leave again. Will he leave home again to go back to what he was doing in helping others the way he did?
“Holy shine, sis!” Laurel jumped in front of her as she rounded the stairs. “You look beautiful.”
“Thank you.” Brooke touched the low knot of her updo. “Not too much?”
“Exactly the right amount. You’re like…the lady in red. You remember that really old song?”
“The song is not that old.” She smoothed her hands over her hips, the chiffon tickling her palms.
Overall, Ms. McGovern has delivered a wonderful read in this book where I loved what the hero and heroine do for the kids whose prom they’re organising; the chemistry between this couple was tangible and gets stronger with every interaction between them; the romance was delightful and had me glad that Brooke took a chance on Trevor because she needs him just as much as he needs her to heal from the hurts of their pasts; and the ending had me loving the heroine’s determination to make things right with the hero after their relationship goes awry. How could Trevor ever say no to such a proposal? However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as Trevor and Brooke make such a great team and are so right for each other. I would recommend No One Like You by Heather McGovern, if you enjoy the enemy to lovers trope or books by authors Jody Holford, Kate Angell, Tara Sheets and Donna Kauffman.

In the quaint mountain town of Windamere, North Carolina, the three Sargent sisters are determined to make their hotel and winery, Chateau Jolie, a success. And one by one, they’re finding that nothing pairs better with new beginnings than unexpected love…
The downside of living in a charming small town is that it’s impossible for Brooke Sargent to avoid anyone. Especially someone as big, handsome, and friendly as Trevor Bradley. At his brother’s wedding, they flirted and danced…before Brooke recalled that she’s not ready to trust any man after her divorce, let alone one who’s the competition. Her family’s struggling chateau is planning to host the local senior prom—without the Bradley family’s renowned Honeywilde Inn muscling in and stealing the glory.
Trevor has thought of no one else since the night he and Brooke connected. Even though she shot him down—hard—he’s seen the warmth beneath her guarded facade. Working together, they could give the high school students a spectacular prom. Navigating the rough terrain of Brooke’s business, while proving himself to his own siblings, won’t be easy. But Trevor loves a challenge—especially one that could win him the woman he can’t stop wanting . . .
