One-Week-In-Your-ArmsOne Week In Your Arms by Patricia Preston: Doctor Marla Grant runs the Lafayette Fall Community Clinic. When someone threatens to pull funding for the clinic, she discovers the culprit is none other than Carson Blackwell, the man she had a fling with six years earlier, a fling that left her with a daughter.

Despite the six years that have past, Carson can’t get Marla out of his mind. He figures a threat to pull funding will bring her to his office so he could see her again. When he needs someone to go to Hawaii with him to pose as his girlfriend, he makes her a deal: take the trip and funding for the clinic will be reinstated.

I enjoyed the story, but a couple of things bothered me. One was that Marla flipped flopped between whether she should tell Carson about his daughter or not, which was a bit frustrating. She had plenty of opportunities to tell him but kept putting it off. When she invites him back to Tennessee, she doesn’t tell him that the purpose is to meet Sophie. In fact, she doesn’t tell him she has a child at all and the way he finds out is less than ideal. Instead of all the back and forth, it would have been better if she just admitted the truth.

The second thing is that Marla’s ex-husband, Ben, had raised Sophie as his own until he moved away, but he still kept in constant contact with her. He was the only father Sophie had known in her young life. There’s no mention as to how he reacted to the news that Sophie’s father was now in the picture. I would have liked to have gotten some reaction from him, but the fact that there wasn’t didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the story..

Despite my frustrations with Marla, I enjoyed One Week In Your Arms. I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys a second chance romance.
