In Outrageous (Quantum #7) by Marie Force , Becoming an assistant to superstar actress Marlowe Sloane is a dream come true for Leah Holt. Not used to living in California or having a company car and an awesome salary, the former teacher would have it made if she could turn her crush on Quantum’s lawyer Emmett Burke into a real relationship. But even though he’s polite, the drop dead gorgeous guy basically ignores her. Not to worry, though. Leah is persistent if nothing else. And it pays off big time, when a painful mishap at the pool has Emmett needing assistance for a day or so, letting her get a firsthand glimpse at not only his, ahem, goods, but also at who he really is. And if Leah wasn’t hooked before, she definitely is now. It won’t be easy to prove to the cynical attorney that they have what it takes to become an incredible couple. But she won’t give up until she’s gotten it through to him.

“This is what you said you wanted–the real me. Here I am.”
Oh, so this is some sort of test. I get it now.
“You still want me?” The question is asked in the usual gruff tone, but there’s a hint of vulnerability to him that touches me deeply.
I don’t blink or hesitate. “Yes. What else you got?”

Emmett has been trying to ignore the insistent attraction he has for Leah since he first saw her. Unfortunately it’s not working so well, considering they both have jobs with Quantum and see each other nearly every day. As a lawyer, he knows all the reasons why work and play should remain separate. But Leah makes it difficult to remain in control. Especially when Emmett wants nothing more than to show her the type of bedroom play he’s into, seeing if he can get the outspoken, sexy woman to submit to him. Even though several of his best friends have recently found a way to have their career and a stable, fulfilling romance as well doesn’t mean that Emmett is cut out for something serious. Although Leah has it in her head to show him otherwise. If he’s willing to give it a shot.

“Don’t run scared.”
“I am not scared.”
“Yeah, you are.” She smooths a hand over my face, and damn if I don’t feel the tension leave my jaw. “I’m not that scary.”
She’s terrifying.

Outrageous was exactly that–a story that was outrageous in every way. From the hysterical dialogue to the ridiculously hot love scenes and the sweet connection between Leah and Emmett, Marie Force was spot-on with this newest offering in the Quantum series.

“Don’t roll your eyes at your Dom.” I can *feel* her rolling her eyes again at that, and I smile, loving the sauciness, although I can never tell her that. She’s unmanageable as it is without giving her ammunition to use against me.

The Quantum series hooked me from book one and I have had an absolute blast meeting each new couple and watching their journey to a HEA. I was looking forward to learning more about Emmett and Leah after seeing their attraction growing with each scene they popped up in almost since the beginning. And boy did they *not* disappoint in any way. There was still an erotic edge to Leah and Emmett’s romance as you would expect from this series–albeit heavy on the hilarity and a little light on the BDSM. I was totally fine with it as it fit where Emmett and Leah’s relationship was going. There’s one particular scene in Chapter 13 that I saw fans were raving about and when I read it, I was crying from laughing so hard. It’s definitely a NSFW scene, but oh my goodness did Marie Force perfectly capture the dynamic between this couple. I do feel bad for poor Emmett, though. He gets hurt a few times throughout the story in the most comical–and most painful–of ways. But each time was *so* funny!

I thought Leah and Emmett were both interesting characters. There was a bit of an age gap, I believe close to a decade or so, but it didn’t seem to make a big difference to me with them. Leah, thankfully, was an utter hoot, just like I thought she’d be. Sassy, outspoken, honest and kind, she had a tough upbringing (like all of the Quantum bunch has, actually) but made a good name for herself, fitting in with everyone at Quantum really well. I loved that she owned her crush on Emmett. She made no bones about how much she wanted him. It was Emmett that denied his attraction to Leah, thinking they weren’t compatible based on age and her not knowing he was into BDSM. They both had momentary doubts along the way, but I liked that their attraction didn’t diminish, but increased along with their friendship as they got to know each other.

Outrageous was another great addition to Marie Force’s powerhouse Quantum series. If you’re looking for a sexy romance that will have you laughing out loud as well as fanning your face and sighing happily, look no further.

She drives him crazy… In more ways than one.

Every time Leah Holt encounters Quantum Production’s chief counsel, Emmett Burke, the only thing she can think of is how much she wants to lick him. Everywhere. She’s never had that kind of reaction to a man, and the fact that he’s a much-older colleague makes her out-of-control attraction to him far more complicated than it should be. Every day, she brings a new legal question to Emmett, hoping to catch his attention and make him see her as a grown woman who wants him desperately. She walks a fine line in trying to remain professional as the assistant to superstar Marlowe Sloane while lusting after Marlowe’s sexy attorney.

To Emmett, Leah is a fly buzzing around his head who can’t be swatted away. She’s always there, looking at him, asking him legal questions that have nothing to do with his specialty in entertainment law and generally driving him mad with her overt sexiness and sassy mouth. He wants to toss her over his desk and run the sass right out of her, which is hardly the way a professional who loves his job should behave in the office—especially with a young, fresh, sexy colleague. As the author of the company’s policy on inter-office dating, he’s painfully aware of all the reasons he should stay far, far away from her and the tantalizing temptation she represents.

Then Leah gets her chance to step up for Emmett, to help him through an unfortunate “accident” and to show him she’s much more than just a smart mouth and a sexy body. When she realizes she has genuine feelings for him—and that those feelings are returned—she wonders if he will take a chance on her or continue to hold her at arm’s length. Slowly but surely, she chips away at his resistance, and he begins to crave more of her. But Emmett knows if he’s going to let her in, he has to let her all the way in. What will she think when he introduces her to his BDSM lifestyle? Will she still want him the way she does now or will she run away in horror? And what will he do if she runs away?

When Leah confronts a dangerous threat from her past, Emmett is forced to acknowledge that his “annoying little fly” has worked her way firmly into his heart—and his bed.

Sounds good, but the cover…is this what a professional lawyer looks like on his day off, especially with the cap on his head! lol At least this is a standalone. I see several cliffhangers listed and I never purchase cliffhangers. So Ms. Force now joining the land of cliffhangers. The biggest problem with cliffs is when one bk lets say out of 3 does not get published or author changes publishers, or never writes the last book. Beware!

Yeah, he doesn’t look like the lawyer described as wearing custom made suits, but I think it was a nod towards how he was dressed while recuperating from his “pool mishap”. 😉 LOL! (And the fact that he liked to work out) So the first three books of the series are all about Flynn & Natalie, with books one and two being cliffhangers. The rest of them, beginning with book four, are all standalones. I haven’t had a chance to read her other series yet so I haven’t run into any other cliffs with her, but good to know!

Thanks, Tammy! Be prepared to laugh until you cry! The dynamic between these two characters was so much fun. 🙂

It was, Teresa! I hated to put this one down because I was having such a blast with it. I hope you get to enjoy it as well! 🙂
