Overruled by Lana Ferguson: Danica is sharp, guarded and absolutely not looking for anything serious, especially not now that she has a shot at making partner at her law firm. But it would seem that fate has other plans for her, when the stranger she meets online turns out to be Ezra Hart, the opposing counsel in the biggest case of her career… What starts as no strings attached situation-ship soon begins to spiral into late night phone calls, stolen and almost forbidden glances in the courtroom and feelings that neither of them were ready to admit. While Ezra is all sunshine, Dani is all stormy clouds. She is building walls, but he waits patiently outside them. And as the lines between personal and professional start to blur, Dani has to decide if protecting her heart is worth losing the one person who might actually understand it…

Overruled is your classic enemies turned lovers, office place romance and I for one love the combination of these tropes. I have to say that I really did not expect this book to actually feel so much like a legal drama, there was a good amount of legal representation, so if law drama shows are your vibe then this will definitely be a good fit for you. Personally I loved this element in the book and the fact that we got to see both Dani and Ezra in their courtroom element going full on battle mode but with the banter undertones. The entire idea of them being friends with benefits out of court but inside total enemies only added to the appeal if you ask me, and I ate it right up!

Dani was all sharp edges and serious business mode, but behind all of her high collars and cutting remarks was actually a girl scared of getting her heart broken. I completely understood her reasons for wanting to lock everyone out of her heart and wanting to put her full focus on work but gosh did this only make getting to see Ezra knock those walls down all the more satisfying. Ezra really was a ball of sunshine and happy vibes. I loved the fact that he was patient with Dani but by no means was he passive, he knew that he wanted his girl and he made his feelings clear, but doing so while respecting her. Even though he came across as this easy going, golden retriever, Ezra was actually a really deep character. He was emotional stable, determined, kind and respected Dani and her boundaries.

I love a good enemies to lovers romcom because they always deliver on the banter and that was most definitely the case with Overruled. I loved the build up between Dani and Ezra, there was definitely no questioning their sexual tension and all that pent up energy after facing of in court by day. These two while should have made no sense together, just seemed to click perfectly. While they might have seemed completely opposite to each other, they both shared the same fear of getting hurt. While Dani walled her self away, Ezra leaned into the journey. This made their push and pull feel all that more real and relatable. I really enjoyed getting to see them both face their fears and realising that love is worth the risk.

If you are looking for a slow burn that has banter and heart then this is definitely the book for you. I loved getting to follow Ezra and Dani as they battled their way through the courtroom of love.

Danica Pierce has one great love in her life: work. As one of the top divorce lawyers in Austin, Danica lets her caseload keep her warm at night and has no problem being married to her job, not when love only ends in hurt. When the biggest case of her career gives her a shot at making partner, it seems like nothing could possibly stand in her way…except for her infuriating secret: she’s sleeping with the enemy.

Ezra Hart is known for charming his way in and out of a courtroom. In the matter of winning Danica Pierce’s heart, however, he’s been far less successful. With her verdict to keep things purely physical with no chance of appeal, Ezra struggles to show Danica he’s more than the insufferable playboy she’s pegged him to be–especially since they find themselves on opposing sides of Danica’s most important case to date.

While Dani and Ezra battle it out in the courtroom, the real trial is the one happening between them. When Dani realizes that everything she knows of Ezra might be hearsay–and that she’s not the only one with emotional baggage–she must choose between her fear of trusting again and the feelings blossoming between her and the man she thought was her worst enemy.
