Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai: Using a matchmaking service is supposed to help make the entire finding a partner thing as easy as possible…right? Well for thirty-five year old accountant Mira this has really not proven to be the case, with one failed set up after the other Mira is pretty sure her matchmaker is about to fire her. Which is when fate intervenes setting Mira and her very first failed match Naveen back into each others orbits. After finding out about the passing of her only aunt the last thing Mira expected was to learn that Naveen and his firm would be handling closing up of her aunts estate. Which sets the two on a mad dash adventure in La Vegas filled with wacky hackers, evading kidnappers and some crafty art thief’s. Between trying to figure out what Mira’s aunt has been up to sparks begin to fly between Mira and Naveen, could their very first match have been their perfect match? But with all of these secrets spilling out Mira can’t help but fear that all of this would be to much for Naveen to handle…
Let me start by saying that I just love the cover of this book, talk about really setting the scene for a catchy suspense filled romcom adventure! I really liked the premise of Partners In Crime, the entire struggle to find the perfect match is no joke even with the help of dating apps and matchmakers so in that aspect this book really worked for me. That and the fact that both of our main characters were so relatable and easy to love that made this book a breeze to read.
I just loved the fact that Naveen was Mira’s first match and even though things blow up in their relationship when Mira got cold feet after meeting his family, they found their way back to each other now with a bit more experience and really just a bit more grown up. I liked that neither of them were perfect and that we got to see them opening up about these insecurities as the book progressed. I have to say that Rai did an excellent job with handling the sensitive issues that both main characters faced; like with Naveen’s drinking problems and highlighting his journey to sobriety, as well as the way she showed us how Mira battled with her anxiety that largely stemmed from PTSD from issues from her past.
Their chemistry just worked so well with the entire suspense filled drama of finding out who exactly were Mira’s parents and aunt. I loved that Mira was so determined and such a go getter but Naveen was there to help rein her in if she was going too far. As far as steam factor goes this was pretty light save from a few moments, but personally this was not an issue for me in the overall flow of the novel. I loved getting to follow Mira and Naveen as they try to find their feet in this new chapter in their lives. I really liked
One of the things that I absolutely love about Rai’s books is the fact that she keeps the Desi references so real! This book really hit on so many of those things that Desi kids have to deal with when they reach a certain age. I have to say that I really liked that both main characters were already well into their thirties and actually relatable characters that had real expectations of what comes with marriage and settling down. I think the fact that Rai kept this book both entertaining but also very real made it work so well for me.
Partners In Crime had the perfect combination of fast paced suspense drama, cute second chance romance and some playful banter between two incredibly relatable characters. If you are looking for a fast fun read then this is definitely the book for you!

Indian Matchmaking meets Date Night in this fun, romantic adventure in which a match-made couple about to be engaged gets caught up in a caper that puts their future—and lives—in danger.
At thirty-five, with a stable job as an accountant, Mira Chaudhary wants nothing more than to find a boring man to spend the rest of her life with. Having had enough excitement in her younger days and desperately trying to escape her dysfunctional past, she turns to a matching app specializing in Indian American singles to help her find someone to settle down with.
Enter Naveen Desai. An English professor with an uneventful, normal, and—dare she say it, boring—life, Naveen is perfect.
But just when things are going well, Mira receives news that her aunt has died. Suddenly a trip to Las Vegas to settle her aunt’s affairs turns into a mad dash to escape kidnappers, evade art thieves, and consorting with hackers who can decipher just what it was Mira’s aunt was involved with. Mira just hopes that Naveen isn’t chased away by the very same life of “excitement” that she’s been trying to get away from. But maybe, over the course of one wild night, Mira and Naveen will find the love connection that neither expected.
