Perfect Pitch by Mindy Klasky: Samantha Winger is using her title as Summer Queen to launch her pet project, a music program for kids. She needs the help of her title as the reigning beauty queen and the sponsors she can get to get this project started. So she will follow all the rules to the letter till the end of her year as reigning queen in order to make her project work. She will not smoke, drink, or cavort in public, including Perfect-Pitch-by-Monica-Klaskyno seeing any man without a chaperone.

D.J. Thomas wants to do the same as his father did and joke during interviews. Unfortunately, he made a big mistake when he slams Samantha Winger, the current Summer Queen, belittling her in comparison to miss universe during an interview and the video goes viral. Now D.J. must apologize and find a way to make it up to her.

Only as he is going to apologize to her, he realizes that there are cameras and she was giving an interview, giving him the opportunity to apologize on national TV, something that was not expected, and invites her to sing the national anthem on the next game.

To her surprise, before she is about to go out and sing in front of everyone, D.J. shows up and walks her to the microphone, then gives her a very public kiss. Sam knows that she cannot risk seeing D.J. again, but she cannot help the attraction she feels towards him nor caring towards his young son once she meets him at the owner’s box.

As much as Sam wants to stay away from D.J. things just don’t work out that way, and soon they are seeing each other more often than she wishes, but just as she desires. But this will bring problems to her door and put her crown and her pet project at risk.

Sam will have to find out which is more important to her, her project and her crown or the love she is beginning to feel towards D.J. and his son. While D.J. will have to realize what really matters in life, and it’s not baseball as he always thought. Making him make tough decisions to get what he really wants in his life.
