Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey: Life is looking pretty damn good for Boston Bearcats rookie Robbie, not only is he thriving in the NHL but he is roomies with
his bestie, teammate and fellow ‘orgasm-donor’ Mailer. With a never ending shortage of pretty girls, you could definitely say that life is looking pretty good at the moment, well that is until Robbie meets Skylar, a division one softball pitcher and the only girl that isn’t instantly taken by his charming smile and flirty words. While Robbie is instantly smitten, Skylar cant help but peg him for the typical hockey player. The smart thing for Robbie to do would be to return to his normal partying way and leave Skylar to carry on pining for her brother’s best friend, but there is just something about her that he cant seem to stay away from… which is exactly how Robbie finds himself posing as Skylar’s fake boyfriend slash dating coach during her family’s annual wilderness competition which her crush will also be attending… Somewhere between the obstacle course, some odd team challenges and more than a few blurred lines, things begin to shift between Skylar and Robbie. Gone are the simple moments of pretending, things are beginning to feel very real…
LOVED!! I absolutely adore reading a Tessa Bailey book and this series has been an all time favourite of mine, so to say that I was thrilled to get my hands on a copy of Robbie’s book would be a total understatement! Right from the very first page Bailey had me swooning, giggling and fanning myself as this silly cute fake dating, sports romance began to take shape. With easy to love characters and sizzling banter this was just the kind of book that you couldn’t help but want to devour in one setting!
For all intents and purposes Robbie gives of the quintessential hockey playboy vibe, but gosh as we got to know the real Robbie the more clear it became that he was so much more than the image that he liked to portray. I just loved how supportive and loyal he was to the people that were important to him. He wasn’t afraid to show his feelings and actually show up for his people and support them in anyway that he could. I really liked getting to see the more serious and emotionally mature side to him compared to the playful frat boy vibe we had seen before. Now for our leading lady, gosh I just loved Skylar. Not only was she sassy as hell but I loved that she was confident and driven to be the best she can be, that and super competitive. While she was a total powerhouse on the pitch, I really liked getting to see her show Robbie her softer more venerable side as he helped her find her dating confidence. We also get to see her realise that she doesn’t have to be like everyone else in her family and that she is pretty cool all on her own.
I am a total sucker for the fake turned real trope and if there is anyone that knows how to do it well, it is Tessa Bailey and gosh was it perfect in this book! There is sparky banter that barely hides the simmering attraction between these two and gosh do things heat up! I loved the combination between the steamy moments and the more softer sweet moments that Skylar and Robbie shared as they began to lower their walls and get real with each other. The forced proximity of the camp worked perfectly in pushing these two together and helping Skylar see Robbie on a deeper level.
I just loved the setting of this book, an annual family wilderness competition was just perfect, not only did it give our main characters a chance to bond but I loved the summer camp vibe that came with it. I also loved the fact that we got to see a few of Robbie’s teammates and past Big Shots characters, bring in the playful family energy that we are used to from them.
Simply put I loved every single moment of Pitcher Perfect, this book combines heart, humour and heat in the most perfect way possible. If you are looking for a sports romance with loads of heart and laughs then this is the book for you!

Boston Bearcats rookie Robbie Corrigan is living the dream. He’s made it to the NHL, his best friend/teammate and fellow “orgasm donor” is his roomie—and the women of Boston love them both. Life is sweet. That is, until he meets Skylar Paige, division 1 softball pitcher, girl least likely to take anyone’s bull…and the one member of the opposite sex immune to his charms. Robbie might be dazzled by the badass pitcher, but Skylar pegs him as a filthy player and wants nothing to do with him.
When he discovers she’s carrying a serious torch for her brother’s best friend, Robbie knows he should just go back to clubbing and whipped cream bikini parties, but he can’t seem to leave Skylar to flounder on her romantic quest to land another man. Nor can he miss out on the opportunity to spend time with her and hopefully redeem himself. Before Robbie knows it, he’s agreed to be Skylar’s fake boyfriend/love coach at an upcoming family wilderness competition where her crush will be in attendance. What could go wrong?
Through a series of contests that require them to trust each other, Robbie and Skylar grow closer and closer until their fake relationship starts to feel like the realest thing they’ve ever known and the sizzling lessons in sensuality burn out of control.
But it’s all just pretend…right?
