In Savage Love (Savage Trilogy #3) by Lisa Renee Jones, Candace thought she and Rick were meant to be together forever, back when they were in San Antonio dating and planning out their future. Then Rick disappeared. Candace knew where he was in the military, it could have been a secret mission. But after years of no contact, she finally gave up hope and tried to move on with her life–but she never forgot Rick Savage. Then he suddenly walks back into Candace’s life just as she’s questioning her engagement to Gabriel, a senator with plans to make it to the White House some day. It seems her fiance isn’t quite the charmer he pretends to be. And Rick is in the process of trying to take Gabriel and few other bad guys down in the process.

‘That’s the thing about Rick Savage. He consumes me inside and out, and while yes, it’s terrifying to have any one human have that much power over you, it’s also the best damn feeling I’ve ever known.’

But after Savage and Candy team up, the bad guys have them constantly on the move, wondering where the next threat will come from. After they win each small victory, Savage tries step by step to win back the heart of the love of his life. Candy is rightfully angry over his disappearance, making it tough for her to trust. But Savage feels that connection between them, just as strong as ever and *knows* their happy future is within grasp. He just needs to take out the bad guys like the trained killer he is and then prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that he won’t let his Candy down ever again.

“Love is trust, Rick. Love. Is. Trust.”
“And that’s the problem, now isn’t it? You don’t trust me to stay, Candace.”
“And you don’t trust me to love you, the real you.”

Fans couldn’t have asked for a more exciting finale to the Savage Trilogy, an already high octane love story every bit as addictive as its hero, Rick Savage. Author Lisa Renee Jones yet again put the characters through their paces, but she also doled out a HEA that will make you swoon.

‘She is so damn tiny, so delicate and yet so freaking tough. I’m a damn killer, and no one can put me in my place like this woman.’

It’s finally here! Yay! The third book in the Savage Trilogy where all the questions were answered, all the loose threads tied up (or severed), and where Savage and his lovely Candace got that happy ending they’ve deserved for years. Savage Love picked up exactly where the previous book, Savage Burn, left off. And where each of the previous installments left off at a major cliffhanger, it would be best to read these in order. I did really like that LRJ included a refresher at the beginning of Savage Love, with the most important plot points listed out before jumping in to this conclusion. It helped a great deal for those of us who have read the books as they were released, so we don’t forget some of the intricate details of this complex storyline.

There was still some angst while Savage and Candy waffled a bit with fully trusting each other again, but not quite as much as in book two. It felt like they were repairing their bond for real here and showed their true strength, both as a couple and as individuals. Savage has been one of my favorite secondary characters in LRJ’s books that center around Walker Security for a while so I loved getting to not only know Savage better, but to also watch him win Candy over again. I like that he didn’t really change, aside from letting go of some of the guilt over his past. I don’t think Savage needed to change anything about himself. Especially his loyalty and his awesome sense of humor. Candace agreed. And it was absolutely wonderful to watch as she put her trust in Savage again all while learning to listen to her instincts like she once did before their lives imploded.

Pulse-pounding action, lies, double-dealings, bravery, and a second chance at love, Savage Love was everything I adore about Lisa Renee Jones’s books, all in one place. Highly recommended.

The third and final book on the Savage Trilogy…

They say all is fair in love and war, but I really don’t give a damn about fair. In fact, when protecting those I love, fair is the last thing on my mind. Now that I’m back in Candace’s life, those who have used her to try to control me, may well put up a final fight, but they will not win. They will lose and badly.

    Great review Michele.

I just read this trilogy and LOVED it. Had a blast with Savage and Candace. I really liked too that Savage didn’t change….he didn’t need to I agree. And I did love seeing them really be so strong together in this book.
