Second Bride Down by Ginny Baird is the second book in the Majestic Maine series which is based on the Delaney sisters and the deal they strike with each other to save their family’s coffee shop, Bearberry Brews, and their family home.

The Delaneys had been cheated out of the bigger corporation by Mr. Strong, their previous business partner. Now with Mr. Strong dead, his widow and son want to make amends with the Delaneys. Unfortunately due to Mr. Strong’s will, the only way to do so is for one of the Delaney siblings to marry Aidan Strong. The three sisters will do anything to save the coffee shop, even make a deal that whoever hasn’t found love in thirty days will be the one to marry Aidan.

Misty’s dream is to go to school for graphic design and she has applied but has not received an acceptance letter yet. Now that her oldest sister has found love and become engaged, Misty decides she will marry Aidan. She hasn’t found anyone to love and didn’t think she was ready to be seriously involved with someone. So, a marriage of convenience with Aidan sounds good to her. Except her sisters won’t let her back out of their agreement and they post a billboard outside of town saying, “Marry me: Misty!” The billboard had men swarming the coffee shop wanting to marry her.

Lucas Reyes had worked at the coffee shop for years and had crushed on Misty ever since he met her, but he had never gotten the courage to ask her out. When the billboard has men flooding the shop, he sees this as a sign that it is time for him to risk it all. His announcement that he and Misty are seeing each other surprises the others but Misty goes along with it hoping to buy herself more time.

Misty and Lucas were great friends and had known each other for years but had never really confided in each other. I loved seeing Lucas step out of his comfort zone and take a chance. The cute dating list Misty’s sisters came up with helped them come to know each other better and helped their slow-burning romance grow. I was so glad to see Misty finally open her eyes and see Lucas had feelings for her. It took her sisters and friend to get her to realize it but eventually, she realizes what she has had the entire time.

So, Nell and Misty have found their love and the only sister still single is Charlotte. The next book should be interesting. I can’t wait to see if Charlotte finds her special someone and if they will be able to save their family’s shop.

Aspiring artist Misty Delaney is not about to let her parents’ beloved café go under. Not when she can just merge the company by entering a quick marriage of convenience with the rich son of their family’s rival. But her sisters aren’t having it. They all made a deal: they each get one month to find true love. She can’t just fold. To make sure Misty gives finding love a chance, they post a “Marry me: Misty!” billboard outside town. Surely that’ll give her options?

Watching Misty field marriage proposals from strangers, that she clearly doesn’t want, is a big cup of nope for café manager Lucas Reyes. He and Misty have been friends for years, but it’s time he step up and make his romantic feelings for her known. And what better way to start than by sending her unwanted suitors packing with an announcement that she’s already in a relationship. With him.

Lucas’s little stunt buys an extremely grateful Misty one week to come up with a solution that saves the café and keeps her sisters happy. A week during which she and Lucas need to act like they’re in love. Except, between late-night stargazing, crashed mopeds, and dancing in the rain, their pretend romance feels almost…perfect. But it’s one thing to start falling. It’s another entirely to turn one week into forever…
